Hi folks,
does anyone know if it's possible to completely suppress sexual urges? I want to purge this instinct completely and wondered if anyone has experience doing this.
Thanks for your time. |

Hmm, yeah I get that this really isn't the place for such a question lol, but it's late and I thought I'd try.
I did have a therapist for a while but it seemed she didn't care/understand so I stopped going.

There's always an option to change therapists.
Why do you feel the need to suppress all sexual urges? |

Oh, well I suppose I didn't but I'm not averse to criticism, most people are nice and don't mean to be nasty.
Thanks for your time, I'll have to see another therapist then. |

"A good bout of depression can suppress libido.
As can the aging process. "
I'm not so sure about the first part but I don't know if I can wait until I'm old for this to pass. |

I imagine it probably doesn't taper off until old age. There's no way I'm waiting that long. |

I think you'll find it difficult to stop thinking about sex entirely. You need something to keep you very busy and tired.
Or hypnotherapy maybe? |

Keeping myself busy seems to be my best current solution - though i'm still having a hard time. I run a business and have 5 employees so I haven't been sitting around squandering my time (which makes the problem a thousand times worse). When I come home from work I go to the gym for an hour and then I'm working again until I go to bed.
You're right, it does help but somehow it's not enough. |

More therapy then? The next therapist may also think you don't have a problem though. |

As mentioned before, you ought to visit your GP, this is obviously bothering you and they can refer you on. Good luck. |

I'll ask for a male therapist this time, I hate to sound sexist but I don't think most women can understand the problem. It seemed to go straight over her head and she trivialised it into something it wasn't. |

You could be right. Male and female sexual urges are entirely different. |

Well, I hope you get your problem resolved. You're probably not helping yourself by being on a site specifically aimed at sex. |

If you feel that you're addicted to sex, several organisations recommend a 12-step programme. It's apparently the same kind of principles that alcoholics anonymous recommend for those with drink problems. |

I should have deleted my profile a long time ago - but there's always that tiny glimmer of false hope that stops me from thinking straight. It's part of the problem. |

"Hi folks,
does anyone know if it's possible to completely suppress sexual urges? I want to purge this instinct completely and wondered if anyone has experience doing this.

There is another thread with someone asking how to grow boobs.
The answer is the same in both cases.
HRT could solve both of your issues but could also pose health risks. |

I’ve asked the same question a couple of times and never found one answer that works. And I know exactly why it’s an issue you want to get rid of even if others don’t! Keep busy or get depressed as given above or the big one is find connection with other people. Not superficial but deeper. Do you ever have periods of normal or no libido? If you do maybe consider if you could have bipolar? |

I haven't been very clear about my motives behind this because I know what happens if I was.
I'm not bipolar - I'm just a normal dude with a libido, which would be fine except that it isn't. |

What do you mean? You're looking for a way to suppress sexual urges. The 12-step programme is what's recommended to those who want to be able to do that.
Sex addiction 12 step. Google it |

"You can be chemically castrated...bit drastic! "
Is it?
OP wants to purge himself of sexual urges. Chemical castration does (or is supposed to) do just that without need need to remove things.
OP, if your therapist Trivialised your issue then they were a shit therapist, try a clinical psychologist. There are CP's working in the sexual field. Might be difficult to get an Nhs referral to one though.

For me, I can judge my level of mental health by my libido.
As I get a bit stressed in life, my libido and urges go up and it can be all I think about and want.
If however things get too stressed, if in a constant high level, almost to the depression stage, then there is no desire at all. |
