I just got a fixed penalty for being in a bus lane for 5 seconds,(cameras time) I knew it was there but it’s a very short stretch before the traffic lights & it was dark & I pulled over too early. It’s a strange one because it starts as a single lane & a bus lane, but after the lights it’s 2 lanes & a bus lane with the bus in the middle, & there’s a gap in the middle to pull over to the left before the bus lane continues.
Surely it won’t hurt to appeal after all it wasn’t intentional & I wasn’t doing it to gain an advantage, just that I needed to be in the left lane to continue my journey? Or should I pay up & shut up?

No defence really. The markings a clear enough so you can't use that as defence. You knew you were in a bus lane. The great council spy bots have caught you, it's kinda tough luck really. Cough up and take your medicine. |

Sorry op you'll get nowhere with it and could end up paying far more...I've just had to book a course for jumping over a white line one a red light....only a few feet and stopped but it was do the course and get no penalty points or pay more for a fine and get 3 points.
But you'll get no sympathy for it anywhere |
