Absolutely . But they have been struggling for years due to the likes of Amazon for example . People can just sit at home and get everything they need . Plus they are more expensive than other shops. They haven't moved with the times and payed the price !!

I think a lot will be, with something like 26 stores closing. The only thing is they don't know when or what's going to happen, whether they'll be made redundant or what.

They overcharge on their products. Whilst i don't wish they lose their jobs it's their prices that prevent me from going there. As someone mentioned they haven't moved with the times. So many retailers have fallen for that reason. So sad.

Toys r us actually do a price match, so they may overcharge in store but if you show them that it's cheaper elsewhere they'll match it.

Sounds like another retailer that didn't find a way compete with online retailers. It's not rocket science really, you can't just sell product a in a shop against product a online because online will always be cheaper. You have to sell product a + extended warranty / trade in / other value proposition in shops.

I'm amazed it's stayed open as long as it has, we gave up shopping in there years ago as the store was always a mess and the customer service shocking. Blaming online competitors is an easy cop out, they had it easy for years with next to no competition, and they got lazy. Since becoming parents our experience has been mirrored by other parents time and time again.

I think there might be someone getting a P45 at Poundland, judging by their twitter feed

Bummer. Especially for the staff. My kid used to love racing round the store on the bikes. Happy days.

Whenever I come out of there I feel conned in someway, lots of there products are way over priced (never tried the price match I’ll be honest!) and even though it’s a massive toy shop you still walk round for a very long time I still unaware what you want (probably because as I said it’s expensive). The only think I like doing in there is winding Ads up in babies r us section pushing the prams and touching all the babygros!!

Something is very wrong when a toy shop fails to sell toys at Xmas.

Always were too expensive with poor customer service and fairly poor stock too. Very rarely shopped in there. Sorry for the staff but not a great retailer.

nope they were saved

"Toys R Us has agreed to pump £9.8m into its pension fund – staving off a crisis that threatened to bring the UK arm of company down.

The deal struck with the Pension Protection Fund gives the 3,200-strong workforce breathing space – although it does still look like some stores will close and hundreds of jobs lost.

The PPF said the payment was composed of £3.8m in 2018, with a further £6m promised over 2019 and 2020."
