Im done regularly and im always disease free. I won't play with those that don't get done regularly.
This time I aske for the results. I was done three weeks ago and I asked if I could have written proof that I was clean and was told yes.
Today was a different story.
It wasn't easy. Everyone was puzzled, full of questions and pretty reluctant .
I finally got them though all involved made me feel like a huge inconvenience.
Do you experience problems when being tested ? |

Surely those results are only valid until the day you were actually tested?
You could hypothetically walk out the clinic and sleep with someone with an STI and catch it.
PS - I am positive all results were clean and no one would be foolish enough to sleep unprotected with someone x

It says 'all tests clear' which is fine for most. I try not to get hung up on things that, as others have stated, can change with a duff condom. |

Thanks to all those that state the obvious. I wouldn't have thought about it.
Makes no odds to me. They can put on it only valid for the day of the test.
It does have on it. We can't guarantee that this is Granny or who got tested.
I just think that as the Doc said at the time of testing that Yep that was okay to get the results written out..... that those writing them shouldn't give the third degree. It's either YES we will or NO we won't. I fooking HATE jobsworths.
AND ...if they want people tested they should be more accommodating.

I go to the clinic at chameleons, its run on a monday once a month, they also go to r3tro club too and i have popped into r3tro a couple of times when ive not been about to get on a monday to chams, its held on a tuesday at r3tro, tho they only test you there and not treat you, what they do is take swabs, they do mouth swabs and blood tests too if asked, then text you the results about a week later, if your clear you do nothing, if they find anything they tell you what they have found then to have to go to the clinic and get treatment
I pesonally cant see why you would want it written down, surely the results are not worth the paper its written on unless you get tested, get results and meet within the same day? as you could be clear on day of testing, meet someone a couple of days later and have picked something up inbetween? so whats the point? |

wouldnt say i go regular 4 times a year but does give peace of mind and wouldnt want to risk spreading anything to anybody i have fun with..
they txt me with results and so far so good..
people are really nice..

Maybe they don't feel the need to broadcast how often they get tested, don't take their reluctance to post the details on here as any sort of indication of if and when they get tested.....maybe they just think it's their business and no-one elses? |

I dont know why you experienced problems and we are all entitled to written results when it involves our health.
But there could be information governance procedures that need to be undertaken in order for you to receive written results. You cant walk into any doctors surgery or hospital and demand your written health records there and then. You have to go through the procedures set in place, but you are entitled to have those records.
Maybe nurses and doctors appear reluctant because they are rushed off their feet trying to get through a busy waiting room full of patients. |

See its one thing the doc saying, oh yeah you can have them written out - its not him having to do that is it. Its not generally the doc who has to run around the clinic dipsticking urine, swabbing and taking bloods and dealing with anxious patients who are frightened about contracting HIV.
For the nurses running around like blue arsed flies treating patients, its an added extra job and for what, just the assurance that you were clean on such a such date.
Of course its your right to have this and if you felt it important, or for whatever reason you need it, then all well and good, but if it was unnecessary, just to be kept in your knicker drawer, then I personally wouldnt put the nurses to any extra trouble because I know how overstretched they are. |

I phoned the health team and they did it. No nurses were harmed in the making of this thread. |

Four times a year seams pretty normal it all depends on how many sexual partners you have had in that period. If you have had a dry spell no need to go if you have had a busy season(I wish) then go more often Four times a year is only every 12 weeks/3 months. What do you do go once a fortnight or after every meet. |

Personally I believe that the GUM clinic offers a really good service, confidential, you can choose when and how often you go, a drop in service so you don't have to wait, a text service so you aren't inconvenienced, medical advice, samples of free condoms if required and of course free testing in safe sanitised clinics.
The health service are doing us a favour by offering this service to us, we are not doing them a service by going to them. So no they shouldn't have to accommodate anything extra, they are offering a bloody good service as it is.
Requesting written information is an extra remit, its not as simple as a worker typing out your results. There are a whole host of information governance procedures to go through, and rightly so, you wouldn't want your sexual history to be obtained willy nilly would you.
There are guidelines about who is allowed access to confidential health records, and only those workers with a need to know will access them. A nurse couldn't ask a cleaner to go and do her a quick favour and get the info to help her out cos you wanted it there and then. So in all likelihood it would have been a qualified nurse having to complete that job which is frankly unnecessary because its only relevant at the time of testing.

I (John) also go 4 times a year and get a text. I don't want or need it on paper as It's just for my ( and my wifes) peace of mind!
Just be thankful you got it......... Any other letter from a Dr etc would cost you money, and a costly one at that! |

told me she shouldnt be doing the chack as i might have beem related..
