How's you messages
Jump to: Newest in thread
No we don't mind. We have a look at the profile and if it looks ok will message back. If the following messages continue to be one liners we stop the chat. We've been pleasantly surprised on occasion |

There and to the left a bit |
"Being asked the same question irritates me. How does everyone else feel? "
There's a certain irony to asking how everyone feels about "How's you?" messages
To answer the question, it depends...if it's from someone I know, then not a problem - if it's unsolicited then if the sender has a decent profile that interests me, then I may well respond and try to open the conversation out a little |

I do prefer it to be a bit more, I try to respond to most messages but honestly, just “Hi” I either ignore or gets “Hi” in return... they wanted to speak to me so why do I have to make all the effort? |

"Being asked the same question irritates me. How does everyone else feel? " totally irritates me and is on my profile! I would prefer they start to with a greeting but speak about themselves and what they are looking for! Xx

"It's a tough one as how else do you start a message without typing as if you had met in public....I always say hi how are you when I meet someone?!"
This, also some profiles make it difficult to start a conversation. Sometimes I don't put the effort in because I know the message will either go unread or read and deleted. Sometimes though I've been pleasantly surprised and had some great conversations from a simple Hi |

They don't really irritate me. I much prefer them to the copy and paste job of what they're going to do to me... yeah and the hundreds of others who've had the same message |

I'm not totally against it, obviously there's much better messages to send but it when the conversation moves on and all you still get is 2 words or one liners back I just give up as it gets painful! |

Another question but related......
If someone opens with 'How's You?' then provides a more detailed introduction to themselves underneath, this will likely appear in your inbox as looking like a one liner - do people assume this and delete or do they open it to see if there is anything else?
For me, a simple How's you doesn't really cut it, and I prefer to add some detail about me and why I liked the person I am messaging. |

"Being asked the same question irritates me. How does everyone else feel? "
Feels like it will be a major effort get any real conversation out of them. All the onus has been put on us to be engaging in the reply. That along with generic subjects like "X" or "Hi" and when people end every message with an 'x' kiss.
Rant over. |

I don't mind so much really..long as they're not dickheads I don't mind basic hello type messages..I don't need some finely woven introduction with attached photo and c.v to start a conversation.
But....I don't get inundated with messages either so i imagine daily repetition gets a bit samey.
I'd pop up my filters i think and craft my own messages, take charge of my own conversations. |

I find having a document saved that you can copy and paste comes in handy.
A 3 page diatribe about your life in general, what's right, what's not, how the kids are, how work is, how your parents health gets you down etc.
Then say 'how's you ?'
It is rare they come back for more |

Most messages sent by single guys are deleted unanswered, often unread.
A hi how are you or are you having a good week doesn't seem unreasonable. A simple hi back would generally (though not always) prompt a more detailed second message I imagine? |

To be honest I don't understand your question!
Are you complaining you get ask the same question all the time, which you haven't told us what it is? Or is
"How's your Messsges" the question you're referring to? |

But what would rather have a Hi how’s you or a Fancy a fuck ? I always try to be polite and if it progresses maybe try the second question later on but not quite the same wording |

I suppose it’s just a quick way of saying “hello, I’m possibly interested in you”. If subsequent replies are equally brief we tend not to chat any further as 2-3 word replies are so annoying coming from a person who actually started the conversation.
More annoying to us are the “hows u?/wanna play?” introductory messages from people who haven’t read our profile and don’t fit our criteria. Those messages go straight in the bin without being opened. |

"Being asked the same question irritates me. How does everyone else feel? "
Do you mean same question from different people or same question from same person? If its the first then its understandable and maybe add the answer in ur profile to same the anguish.... If its the latter then - dump him |

Don’t even open them, just delete them.
Profile does say that anything that unimaginative will be deleted & if someone wants to chat, please start a conversation.
If they’ve not bothered to read the profile, I don’t bother reading the message |

No dramas here, to be fair what would you say if you met somebody on a night out?
If they started telling you their life story before saying hi, you'd think wtf.
I think too many people want too much from a first message.
Even a plain old Hi is fine for us. |
