Christmas isn't always an easy time if you're missing a special person from your life during this festive season. It may be recent or past, but the pain can hurt deep this time of year.
Use this thread to leave a happy memory you have of someone no longer with us, a funny story or just a message to say they're in your thoughts.
To all of you, I wish you a peaceful Christmas. I shall be in the corner eating jaffa cakes and giving hugs to anyone who needs.

My best friend died 15yrs ago, he was like a brother to me
2015 was a horrendous year.
I lost 9 people, starting with my dad who had cancer.
2 friends killed in a tragic accident, I should have been with them.
Another murdered, shortly after saying goodbye to him.
2 others died from cancer. 2 more (in separate) crashes.
A dear friend this time last year, after a very long illness.
Recently a good colleague died of cancer related complications.
I miss each one so very much, they are still alive in my heart & never forgotten

I never met one of my grandmas
Both on my mums side died when I was young, what I’d give to be able to just sit and talk to them again
Making the trip up north to see my grandad next week though, he’s 83 and still going strong! |

I,'ll light a candle for my lovely Nan, who was always on my side, never gave up on me all those years ago when I needed someone and loved me unconditionally. She was 100 when she died. I still miss her every day. She was a truly wonderful lady. Thank you Nan for being my best friend ever.
And for my good friend who died aged 19 in a bike crash.

My best friend was killed on the 25th of May 1982 when 2 Exocet missiles hit the "Atlantic Conveyor" We became friends at school at the age of 8 and did everything together until his death. This time of the year i can never stop thinking about him because he always spent Christmas at our house...........RIP mate will raise plenty of glasses for you over the next few weeks |

"What a beautiful thread. I can't put down in words as it's very emotive for me....still, after so many years.
Hugs to all "
Sometimes we don't have to, just the memories are enough, sending big hugs to you, to everyone who has shared.

"Missing my Mum and best friend. She died last year and it's still hard "
A year is nothing, grief takes time, I don't think it heals, I think we just learn to manage it as time passes.
I always keep funny memories in mind to make me remember the good stuff. My lost one fell in the Christmas tree one Xmas eve, I came down to find them stuck in the tree giggling, every time they laughed the baubles fell off slowly as the tree shook. It makes me smile those memories will always be with me. |

I echo the sentiments of this being a lovely thread. Candles to be lit for those i am no longer able to talk with and share parts of my life with, some i will always talk to when certain situations arise even though i know there will be no response.
Enjoying and embracing what i have whilst fondly recalling past times. |
