Urban Myths?
What do you still think is true even though there's no truth in the fact whatsoever or simply what's your favourites?
Sat watching Ben-Hur has prompted this thread, yes I need a life!. ..no, a stuntman didn't die in the filming and you can't see a Ferrari during the chariot race!
Did that women microwave her dog trying to dry it after a walk? |

"I always thought with Ben Hur that the rumour was that a guy was wearing a wristwatch during the Charriot race?
Could be wrong though! "
I heard this too but haven't bothered to check |

I’m sure someone will be sad enough to freeze frame it all and let us know! |

How much of your brain would you use to do that? |

I thought (and still do think...) that you can see jet aircraft vapour trails in the charriot race scene. |

They even made a movie and got Morgan Freeman to say that line. Not Morgan Freeman. How did they get to him? Why Morgan, why? |

But the other 93% stops you?"
Have you ever heard anyone say it? I've heard well educated sane people say it. As if we could open up your head, take out 90% of the brain, stitch you back up and everything would be fine. |

Place a tub of boiling soup in the freezer and leave it over night.
If your going for a long walk on cold day take the soup with you and once it's defrosted you will have a pre prepaired hot soup drink x |

"Still my favourite and hate that it was proved wrong is the origin of the phrase "brass monkeys" which has nothing to do with ships and cannon balls"
Tis rubbish that one, for two reasons, balls weren't stored that way and contraction co-efficient of the two metals aren't that significantly different. |

Erm,in best adenoidal tones, let me explain: at anyone time we only use about 10% of the brain actively. If we used all our brain simultaneously it would over heat and we would die.
I was actually explaining this to a work colleague and he just turned round and walked away! |

So something with the ambient temperature of a household freezer actually has a temperature memory of its pre-frozen state and returns to it upon defrosting? You should submit that to New Scientist or Nature, can see a Noble prize in it for you! |
