What is Love
Jump to: Newest in thread
Love is involuntary. Brain science tells us it's a drive like thirst. It's a craving for a specific person. It's normal, natural to "lose control" in the early stage of romance. Love, like thirst, will make you do strange things, But knowledge is power. It's a natural addiction and treating it like an addiction can help you. |

Love is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience. The strange think is, that almost nobody knows what love is. Why is it so difficult to find love? That is easy to understand, if you know that the word “love” is not the same as one’s feeling of love.

Love is a force of nature. However much we may want to, we can not command, demand, or take away love, any more than we can command the moon and the stars and the wind and the rain to come and go according to our whims. We may have some limited ability to change the weather, but we do so at the risk of upsetting an ecological balance we don't fully understand. Similarly, we can stage a seduction or mount a courtship, but the result is more likely to be infatuation, or two illusions dancing together, than love. |

Love is blind, as far as the eye can see
Deep and meaningless, words to me
Easy lover, I need a friend
Road to nowhere, twist and turns but will this never end
Well my dear you'll know that he pleases me (eases me)
But short term solution ain't no resolution
There ain't no release for me
Thanks Baby spice. |

Love is a choice and an action. That initial feeling of being in love is literally a chemical reaction, nothing more. You have to choose to love someone and you can choose not to love them as well.
Unless it's what a parent, some parents, feel for their child. |

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

But I am non the wiser as to what it is that causes the ....................

A rabbi said to a young man "young man, why are you eating that fish?" the young man replied "because I love fish" the rabbi looks at the young man for a moment, "hmm, you love the fish. So you take it out of the water, kill it and fry it, and this shows you love the fish?".
There are many kinds of love, but most are a love of how someone else makes US feel, like the young man with the fish felt nourished, the fish was but bones and a memory.
Love is giving and expecting nothing in return, it comes without terms and conditions, but beware of imitations, beware of fish love |

Last night I dreamt
That somebody loved me
No hope - but no harm
Just another false alarm
Last night I felt
Real arms around me
No hope - no harm
Just another false alarm
So, tell me how long
Before the last one?
And tell me how long
Before the right one?
This story is old - I KNOW
But it goes on
This story is old - I KNOW
But it goes on |

There's different kinds of love.
The love for your child, your family, the natural instinctive reaction that you'd give anything for them, even your own life.
Love for friends, a softer love, you'd do just about anything for a true friend.
Then there's LOVE, the one that hits you, takes your breath away, makes your heart miss a beat.
It's a chemical reaction in the brain between the thalamus & core memory centre, neuro chemicals & endorphins are released, giving you that 'high feeling'
One thing is certain, love is strange

To me anyway: Wanting to be with that person all the time, missing them when they aren’t there, doing things you wouldn’t dream of doing with or for anyone else, the little touches, the touching of the hair that sends shivers down every inch of your body. Looking at that person and getting an overwhelming urge of a feeling you don’t get with anyone else, sometimes I look at ads and sometimes I want to cry not because I’m unhappy but because I love him so much. Just looking at the other person like an idiot and smiling to yourself. Never getting annoyed by them when they probably annoy everyone else, accepting their quirky ways.
To me that’s love, I thought I loved my ex husband but until I met Ads I didn’t know what Love meant, with Ads I want to look after him, try and make sure he has everything he needs (maybe I’m stuck in the 50’s? Lol) and I’ve seen a side of me know one else has ever seen, a look of love and content, we look at each other and stare at each other for what seems like an age and I see the love he has for me.

"Can anyone explain love and it’s meaning."
Sure...
Well, for a female it's a warm, glowing feeling deep inside that makes her heart literally skip a beat every time she thinks of the one she loves. She surrenders her heart and soul to this person and commits herself to a lifetime of the most wonderful, intense and euphoric feeling of love towards the the lucky individual who has won her heart
For a male, it's the difference between whether she spits or swallows?!? |

Looking from a scholarly socialist paradigm, love is a throwback survival instinct.
We need to survive, as a species, we needed strength in numbers, finding a mate to procreate with helps determine survival.
Physiologically it manifests as chemical reactions in the brain. Release of endorphins associated with attachment and sex.

Love is when you can't stop thinking about that person they are in every thought you have and in every action and decision you make. Love is a calmness that comes over you when you are with that person for without them you are nothing. Love is the sacrifices you make to ensure the person you love feels confident and happy everyday that they are with you.
I could go on and on but your behaviour will tell you when you are in love |

Each to their own. Everyone will have their own opinion of what works for them.

Love is a feeling for another human, not based on logic and rational thought, and enabling the person experiencing it, to set free the person they love. In the extreme it really means putting their feelings and needs above one's own. |

We’re all a little weird, and life’s a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love
Dr Seuss got it pretty spot on
