Just been to the bank to draw some money out and my account said £00.00
Some rotton piece of shite has cleared my account
I know it's not a lot to some but being a carer full time it's a lot for me
I had nearly £500 in my account now it's all gone

I had this last weekend, took what I had, and several hundred more overdrawn.
Card declined in a shop, so embarrassing!
Seems my ebay was hacked & they went via PayPal.
It's still being investigated.

"Oh god I'm so sorry. The only good thing about being skint and having a maxed out overdraft (Only £100) is that they can't pinch what ain't there."
This.
Had 40 quid taken at one point which was pretty devastating at the time.
It's bloody awful. It's so sad what people do to people

I'm so sorry to hear about all these scams. Is people who have experienced it, have tips to keep the rest of Us safe please do share.
I hope people get back anything that has been taken, and maybe it could stop it happening to somebody else. If there is even a way of avoiding it. |

The only tips I have are
Never use your correct date of birth on anything on line.
Never share anything on social media that could lead people to your exact location or name.
Never respond to any email or text from your bank asking you to click on a link or call them.
Never give information on the phone to anyone who rings claiming to be from your bank.
It doesn't matter how plausible someone seems on the phone never, ever give them any information. If they tell you to put the phone down and ring your bank to verify them, don't.
Cover the camera on your lap top or pc.
Always keep contact less cards in a protective wallet.
In short, trust no one when it comes to dealing with finances on the net or the phone.
This won't stop people buying PayPal details on the dark web. I'm afraid. |

Thankfully I've done most of my shopping
I had saved to go shopping tomorrow and visit my daughter
It won't stop me because I will still go regardless as I had bought the train ticket a couple of weeks ago
Yes my daughter will have to wait that little while longer for her Christmas money
And I have a little cash in the house so I'm not penniless like some who are a lot less fortunate
But If it's gone via my PayPal I certainly will be closing that down and won't be buying from eBay again |

Have you linked your bank account to PayPal?
Be prepared for the fraud team to ask if anyone else knows your pin too.
Hope you get the money back. |

A previous neighbour gave her son and daughter access to her on line bank account. Money went missing and when she noticed and contacted the bank mysteriously reappeared. In the meantime her son bought a new trailer. I'm not saying it was her son but the bank couldn't find any unauthorised transactions.
Fraud is bad but it's worse when it appears to be your own family. |

I was advised years ago when I opened my PayPal account to open a separate bank account to link it to, I,m very glad I did, I keep very little money in that account. It's horrible being scammed and robbed. A lady round my way had their new delivery of heating oil stolen and can't afford to replace it. Thieves have no morals unfortunately. I hope you get your money back soon OP. |

Me too, mine is linked to my credit card. Think I’ll remove the details now.
So sorry to read about this OP, really hope it’s quickly resolved and the bank reimburse the money to your account soon x |

Just to add be aware if they have subscribed to something like mine was even canceling the card didn't stop it we had the bank fraud team contact the gaming company direct to cancel it as wouldn't listen to me when we told them it was a fraud so keep a very close eye on your account afterwards or change banks as I did |

Buy a safe. Seriously..the only time I've lost money is because of a bank. I feel much safer looking after my own money in cold hard cash than than in a bank where any sod with a computing degree and a nefarious mind can help themselves to your cash..yeah you get it back but just skip the inconvenience and buy a good hardcore safe |

"Yep I recently had this, the bank couldn't tell me exactly how they had done it,but maybe paypal."
It was actually the bank that alerted me and asked if I'd used my card an hour previous, then whilst I was on the phone to them the thieving gits tried to use my details with an energy company.
All monies was paid back in,I've actually had this twice now.

I would say the only time I have been robbed is when card was used in shop on train station. I had only used the card twice once elsewhere , and it took ages to process my card they got a mobile fr M car phone wherehouse
I now use credit card for everything and only use cash transactions from either the bank or reputable cash machine (not in local shops or in petrol stations)

A friend of mine had this done to them the other day......... it’s crap.
I had my wallet pinched a couple of weeks back. They’d used contactless a few times and set up a DD.
Police caught the bar stard via cctv.
Bank refunded me within 48 hours |

Exactly what I have, and had a 500.00 fraudulant charge for bitcoin through ebay/paypal.
Had the money refunded to me within a week, devastated it happened but ebay acted so quickly. |

Thanku everyone for your lovely comments and pms
It's being felt with and hopefully will have all monies returned very soon
PayPal and eBay have gone now
Closing my account down and opening another is what I'm going to do once all sorted
I have a wonderful brother overseas who kindly replaced the money and transferred to my daughters account which allowed me to still have the much needed day out I had arranged
I know this happens a lot to people and nothing is more gutting when someone does it to you
Thanku you for all for your support
It was very much appreciated
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas

I was lucky as my bank noticed a fraudulent transaction as it was happening and contacted me straight away to ask if it was legitimate and saved me £420. It appeared as if my card was copied from using a cash machine! You can't always stop these things from happening unfortunately |

My card got done last week, nothing worse that £40 which has already been refunded and the inconvenience of a cancelled debit card.
Fairplay to TSB they picked it up after 2 online mobile phone top ups in a matter of minutes to 2 different mobile networks and put a stop on my card immediately.

It is scary. I think it's the amount they can take that's frightening. If someone steals your wallet or purse you're less likely to have your entire months salary in it. |

I'm pretty sure I know where my details were hacked from, loads of runners have had similar experiences after using a specific entry system. I'm opening a second bank account just for using online and will transfer money in to it as and when I use my card online. It's not fool proof and it's an inconvenience but far less of an inconvenience than having my accunt wiped out just after payday |
