After a rubbish Monday, I consoled myself with my favourite Childhood tea of sausage rolls, chips and spaghetti hoops
It really made me happy and brightened up my crappy day!
What's your favourite childhood meal and do you still make it? |

My dad used to make us chicken in a basket...some forms of roast chicken, homemade fries, salad and corn, he bought baskets especially and would line them with kitchen roll and present it to restaurant standard lol
Never have it now, but that was definitely a favourite as a kid! ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I had 3.
My Nana used to make me stovies (Scottish dish with mince and spuds and stuff).
My Dad used to make corned beef hash that was fucking ace!!
And my Mum used to make THE best roast beef dinner in the world.
Sadly all 3 are gone now and I never got my Dads or Nanas recipes ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

"Ooh!!!!!
I forgot one!!!
Egg in a mug!!!
2 boiled eggs, a spoonful of butter and all mashed up with a pinch of salt in a mug.
Heaven. Haven’t had that since I was a teenager......."
That sounds like something my mother would make. When I used to ask her what was for tea she'd say vinegar on a fork. |

Trahana, a kind of Greek soup made from soured milk or something..it's weird, comes in solid form and needs soaking for a few hours before you can cook it..strange stuff but effing lovely, mam would cook it with haloumi in not too, genius.
That or the game me and the old fella would go out and shoot when I was big enough to lift a gun..proper grub |

My mum was a dreadful cook, as bad as Ria in Butterflies if anyone else is old enough to remember that - hence back then I thought the height of sophisticated dining was anything from a Little Chef menu, which was usually a holiday treat. Or fish and chips, because my mum hadn't made it.
And yes, fish and chips is still a favourite today - but definitely *not* Little Chef! |

My parents had proper baskets that looked like chickens
I used to love chicken in a basket. They use the baskets when their grandchildren visit them now ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |
