It will be cheaper to put a new engine in rather than repair old 1. You pick 1 up cheep enough at a breakers or eBay even. If your not able to fit it yourself I regularly turn round engine changes in a day day and a half tops so any half decent mechanic should be able to do the same and your 800 should be down to 500 at the most. I feel your pain, mine died last weekend, so got a cheap runaround to keep me going for a couple of months but I hate it, just thinking about it makes me want to cry.
