"When people ask for long detailed biography style messages, what do you write?, I am just curious because some people ask for long messages."
A 2000 word essay on why I'd be the best option for a great meet of course |

A phonecall always sorts the 'women' from the men lol |

Its my opinion that people who want long drawn out messages rarely meet. I avoid them. |

Write something that honestly reflects you, irrespective of length and if it works then great and if not...move on, be glad that you screened out another weirdo timewaster. |

I hate receiving those lengthy messages. I don't have time to read them. After the first sentence if it's boring I won't read the rest. Polite message back "thanks for the essay, not sure if made a good read as didn't read it all, sorry". |

I can't stand talking on the phone and would gladly forgo a meet if it meant no yapping on the blower personally..it's such an un comfortable experience on the phone with anyone, even friends. Chatting on the phone is not a nice experience for me |

"Long first messages do not read well. It looks either desperate, weird or copy and paste.
I always think they are copy and paste"
That's because they usually are!
I like getting long messages from friends because I appreciate the effort but agree it's a bit odd when someone concocts an overly long first message for someone they don't yet know.
Personally, I like a first message which refers to me individually (in a respectful way!) and where a little effort's been made by the sender to introduce themselves. Something you can work with if you want to reply rather than four of five words (if you're lucky). |

"When people ask for long detailed biography style messages, what do you write?, I am just curious because some people ask for long messages."
Back in the distant past when I used to message people I would never even think of wasting my time on someone who demands these kinds of first messages. Also, why waste time concocting a long detailed first message for someone who you don't know from Adam. Just what would you write anyway? Pointless.
I save my long messages for friends, which I actually enjoy writing (and receiving) and actually mean something because I know that person. Writing a long message to someone who you don't know is bizarre. |

Totally understand people not liking the idea of a phonecall. The female half of us hates it with a passion but me personally i don't mind a quick 2 minute conversation. I find it quite easy to converse and it definitely instantly closes the gap between stranger and friend. Nothing drawn out. Just a "hi, nice to put a voice the face. Thought I'd give you a quick call just to confirm we're real. Really looking forward to meeting you in person.(insert chat about meeting, where and when) Can't stop on but you've got my number now. Any problems, you call me any time."
Having said all that i don't think we've had to ring more than a couple of people to verify. Some prefer it, some don't. |

I'd say they're pointless for a first message and a waste of time.
I mean be polite and not blunt but they're gonna decide whether to reply by looking at your profile and pics rather than the opening message in most cases |

There and to the left a bit |
I think it's a question of finding the right balance between an overly long message and a far too short one that tells the recipient nothing.
I don't often send unsolicited messages to people I've not chatted with previously or got to know through the forums, but when I have done I've always tried to include a little about me by way of introduction, something that's piqued my interest from their profile and maybe some questions so as not to leave it as a "closed" message. Of the handful of messages of that type I've sent I've only had one that didn't get a reply. |

I have done it before, the first lass i ever met off here i called but had been getting on for ages and to be honest, I was more prepa_ed to go out of my comfort zone to get laid back then
I dunno, I'm not naturally a great talker on the phone, I get all stammery and dunno what to say half the time. In real life I'll talk your ears off and laugh till sundown and beyond but on the phone I'm just a speechless pleb so i just don't do it now I get why people want that confirmation on the phone and I get that it works for some people but it's just not really for me. |

I want more than a line, I don’t need a long message but something relevant and individual is what I’m after. Something with reference to your man bits in any way, including pics, is definitely not wanted |
