I am sure you all remember the two year old killed in 1993. But courts are now giving prison sentences to poeple who have found there new names and addresses. In my opinion the should have no where to hide and should be in prison for life. They got 11 years.... one of them has been done twice for child porn! You can't help these people, put them down!

There are sites dedicated to revealing identities and locations of this type of offender.

Often wrongly identifying innocent people.

But the very fact that there are 100s of 1000nds of sex offenders and murderers out in the community, having served sentences, and there are not daily reports of their lynching and extra judicial execution just proves that people who bang on about them, haven’t got the guts to go through with anything.

Just saying

Yea. Hear about stuff like this.

Vigilante’s taking it too far, then the person they attacked was innocent or mistaken.

Laws are there for a reason.

Vigilante groups often get things wrong and make innocent people's lives hell.

Whether you agree or not the law needs to be respected and upheld, it doesn't always seem fair but a lot goes on behind closed doors that the public doesn't always see and hear about.

Awful case. As a mother i can empathise with Denise Bulger, mother of Jamie, and with the boys' mothers. Children killing children, not some serial killer methodically planning his next victim.

It's just mind-boggling. There's no way i can condemn with the same voracity as for the likes of zHuntley and Brady.

I’m not going to name it but the biggest name and shame a sex offender website is run by the same people that run Blood & Honor.

You just disproved your own point of putting them down, yes one has reoffended and likely can't be rehabilitated but the other from all reports has led a quiet law abiding life during his adult years. I'm not condoning the actions at all.

We've read your reply and I think the court system a joke..

If you kill someone child you've ruined that family for life

No 10-15-25-30 years life..

They get a bit of after care that cost few £1000s

The evil shit gets looked after more rights and usually can't be treated..

I would personally kill someone that did that and do whatever sentence I got because I'd have a life sentence without my child and I'm sure that's worse than going jail....

As a mother and having studied the case for my Law degree. I agree that Venables should serve life. Meaning till the end of his days. Our study was of the Police files which included details of actions that were NOT reported in the papers. This was a planned attack and had the mindset of actions of an adult.

Having had a close freinds partner sentanced for being a pedo. Along with a family member of mine being a victim of another Pedo. I've had to go through all the "support and awearness courses". Convited Pedo's get a much easier ride than the vitims. Autroties can tell during their incasaration if they will re offend. However our "human rights Laws" alow them to be free.

But we don't have capital punishment in this country.

One issue I have with vigilante action is where do you draw the line on what offences deserve further action. And what about the previously mentioned misidentifications?

No, I have to trust the court system or the Country will descend into anarchy.

It must cost a small fortune to keep their identity safe. Money that could be spent on the victims of crime rather than the persons who committed the crimes. I can understand that law is law but find it hard to stomach.

So they don't spend the money concealing them, they are sent out into society and mob mentality rules and they are killed.

What do we then do with those killers? Let them off?

Or apply the law, thus ruining their lives, their family's lives and riling society more, encouraging more vigilantism and descending into a lawless state?

The thing is this, if you strongly believe in the death penalty enough, petition parliament there is absolutely no evidence that it served as a deterrent.

Yes it would save 20 - 50,000 a year per convicted criminal who swings rather than does life.

But would you be happy for 1 innocent person to hang?

Is it worth the money then?

Timothy Evans was wrongly convicted of one of Christie’s murders. Then later pardoned. Phostously

I think we would all want to tear somebody limb fom limb if they murdered one of our children.

However like it or not no citizeb of this country is an "outlaw" in the sense that the law applies to us all equally and therefore nobody is outside the protection of the law, criminal or not.

I do not condone vigilantism but I also do not condone murderers going around with a false identity, which means that anyone of us could be living next door to a murderer. Remember it is not just just the killers who get a new name but their extended family. While the victims and their families get to live their lives coping with their loss knowing that the murderer is free. New name new life. Like I said the law is the law and can understand why but it turns my stomach.

It's ironic that they can apply for a new identity because of vigilantes and theat of retribution.

If everyone kept quiet, they'd have nothing to back their application.

I didn't know families were also granted new identities, how do you know that?

The parents of the murderers were never given witness protection but were helped in getting a new identity and continue to get help in moving around once people realise who they are. I thought this was common knowledge. It was on the news fairly recently.

As for the actually murderers....its cost us taxpayers well over £1.5 million keeping who and where they are secret. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I agree that people need protection. Who wants mob rule ? Its just the obscene amount of money spent on protecting murderers that I find crazy. Law is law and needs respect. It just seems that the victims families suffer while the criminals get the easy life. Its just my personal view. People will either agree or not.

the system may not be perfect but its there to not only protect ex offenders who have served their time but also to prevent the angry, ill informed and sheer ignorant from carrying out such actions..

those advocating such vigilante behaviour should think just what the consequences could be when other ill informed or plain old malicious people decide that their 'little johnny' said or did whatever and attack him for no reason..

As for the actually murderers....its cost us taxpayers well over £1.5 million keeping who and where they are secret. And that is just the tip of the iceberg."

I thought it was £250k for the murderers?

And thank you, that's quite different than the impression I got from your first post.

Such a shame that vigilantes cause this cost...

"Here’s the main problem with vigilantes, they are not the punisher, they are groups of low IQ narrow minded violent idiots looking for an excuse for violence.

Try telling that to parents, siblings of these murdered children that suffer horrendously at the hands of monster's. "

can not begin to imagine the pain and loss that parents and families go through under such circumstances but would reckon they would not wish the same pain inflicted upon an innocent persons family because a mob took vigilante action and wrongly so..

All these comments from people condoning killing these folk etc...did they have any effect on you whatsoever? Or is it just bile and pitchfork fever..sitting at home, passing judgement and deciding life and Death for people you've never met and have no bearing on you and your lives? Or are you just morally superior and therefore able to?

I've been directly effected by murder, more murder won't make it better.

"Awful case. As a mother I can empathise with Denise Bulger, mother of Jamie, and with the boys' mothers. Children killing children, not some serial killer methodically planning his next victim.

It's just mind-boggling. There's no way I can condemn with the same voracity as for the likes of Huntley and Brady.

And Thompson?

And planned attack? You're not saying premeditated... Surely prior to the day they didn't plan to entice a child away from his mother, but was opportunistic?

I don’t believe in the death penalty or killing this pair of evil scum bags! Thats too easy for them they should be made to suffer the rest of their lives! They should never of been released back into society in the first place! Regardless of how much it would of cost the country they should of been lock away till their dying days! People like this don’t change.

As far as I'm concerned, for crimes like this.

Life should mean life, in prison til the day they die.

And not some cushy cell with a comfy bed, 3 square meals a day & luxuries.

Solitary confinement, hard labour, minimal facilities.

The victims & their families get a life sentence, so should the perpetrators

"should of hung the pair of scum long ago and reported as suicide "

Whilst these two individuals committed the most heinous of crimes in my opinion, that does not give any police or prison officer, or any other person for that matter to commit something would be akin to their original crime.

I find your opinion to distort the facts of the incidents, albeit hypothetical incidents, rather disturbing. I presume this would be your method of conviction, if you were to sit on a jury too.

This doesn’t bode well for the already flawed justice and court system that we currently have in the UK. Especially as the Jurors have no chance of repercussions, even if the person they convict is later found to be innocent.

Our court system needs an overhaul, as does the rest of the justice system, as there are too many miscarriages of justice every year. Whilst I understand this may happen due to technicality issues, we still have police services and the system rigging a conviction in the favour of “public opinion.” This has been evidenced by many released prisoners in the past decades and their subsequent quashed convictions.

Let's not forget that Venables and Thompson only ended up as monsters because of how their parents brought them up. That said I don't think they should have ever have been released; but their parents were just as guilty and should have gone to prison too

Central

A judge it the person to determine sentences, not a beating mob. The public should not get involved in seeking any form of vengeful punishment - it's totally not within our responsibilities and anyone breaking the laws to do that should be dealt with appropriately and as a deterrent.

If we feel any emotional response to others crimes, it is up to us to deal with it, getting psychological treatment if we can't control ourselves.

Don’t know why venebles and Thompson’s parents should have went to prison.

That sounds like something that happens in North Korea (you go to a prison/camp and your whole family go to prison also).

Victor Nealon, served 17 years for alleged sexual assault. Police on the case never DNA tested the victims clothing and informed the trial that no DNA evidence was available. The CCRC refused twice to investigate the evidence despite a privately funded DNA test found the clothing, kept sealed and untested, contained a DNA sample that was neither Nealon’s or the victims.

Sam Hallam, served 7 years for the death of a trainee chef, despite him not being at the crime scene. His phone was not investigated by the police, which proved he was not there. In my experience, one of the first protocols is to confiscate and interrogate the phone for evidence.

Sally Clark, served 3 years, following the deaths of her two young children. This was based on an ‘expert’ witnesses testimony that two cot deaths in a wealthy family had a one in 73 million chance of occurring. There was no basis for this claim.

Paul Blackburn, served 25 years, following a conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder. He was aged 15 at the time. The prosecution’s primary evidence was a confession from Mr Blackburn. This was given after 4 hours of interrogation and dictated to him by the police. It was ruled that his ‘freely written confession in his own words’ did not match with his poor education, as So many technical terms within were spelled correctly.

On a personal note, a family friend whom was convicted of armed robbery, is still fighting to overturn is conviction after 20 years, despite providing evidence of the witness being told his position in the lineup by the police staff at the station.

This is a handful of serious cases and allegations, yet there are others that do occur and have done more recently.

On the other hand, there are also some cases that should have been dealt with on a more serious level yet for some reason or another, they weren’t.

Ok I knew Savile had a secretary for years (seen an inerview after it all “came out” about Savile) thought he may have had different chauffeurs.

But his secretary kept appointment list etc.

Basically knew him better than most people you’d think, again she claims that she “never knew”. Aye pull the other one I think

well done for making a gross assumption that i was talking about the Bulger case..

the real world that i live in is the one you do, and that's the one where professional's run the system which you again missed i said is not perfect..

My post is about the Bulger case. Nothing less nothing more. Maybe you should have read it!

"

tad ironic you saying that given i was initially responding to another post..

"it should be public where they are and should be left to the community to take care of these monsters

Then things like this happen.....

29 Aug 2000 - Self-styled vigilantes attacked the home of a hospital paediatrician after apparently confusing her professional title with the word "paedophile", it emerged yesterday. ... "For the time being I have moved out of the area because when something like this happens you just cannot feel safe in your own home.

An innocent man, Iain Armstrong, was beaten up by a mob in Manchester after being mistaken for one of the pictured paedophiles - apparently because he wore a neck-brace which looked like one worn to the man in the News of the World's picture.

28 Oct 2013 - Murdered: Bijan Ebrahimi, 44, was beaten unconscious before being burned to death by neighbours who wrongly believed he was a paedophile. An innocent man was ... the court heard. After the hearing, Avon and Somerset Police spokesman Martin Dunscombe said Mr Ebrahimi was an innocent man.

this..

the system may not be perfect but its there to not only protect ex offenders who have served their time but also to prevent the angry, ill informed and sheer ignorant from carrying out such actions..

those advocating such vigilante behaviour should think just what the consequences could be when other ill informed or plain old malicious people decide that their 'little johnny' said or did whatever and attack him for no reason..just meant to quote the bit that they are ex offenders and done their time.......are you living in the real world? All seems inconclusive?

I understand people’s view that they need to believe the justice system is infallible, but it isn’t. Any system governed by the human species is flawed from the beginning as humans are inherently flawed.

Whilst I do believe in the justice system, and I believe it’s operation is, for most conviction positive, I don’t believe we should leave it to chance. There should be an improvement and uplift of the system in place.

Not sure why you're mansplaining to me?

Attempting to converse about why I believe the way I do and trying to gauge an understanding of your beliefs and knowledge in the matter is mansplaining?

Telling me that the justice system isn't infallible. And that any system derived by humans will be flawed by its very nature was mansplaining.

And yeah, didn't see you trying to gauge any understanding of my knowledge or beliefs

Please tell me why you believe it all to be inconclusive, as you appear to disregard the documented positions given by the court of appeal, based on the evidence stated above. "

You're a man therefore you mansplained. It's that clear cut to some people bud.

"A judge it the person to determine sentences, not a beating mob.

Best post on here.

Agreed, and its what seperates us from the baying mobs of places where "justice" is served by what would be considered criminal acts here. We don't always get it right, but right to a fair trial is the cornerstone of what we believe is the correct thing to do.

"Let's not forget that Venables and Thompson only ended up as monsters because of how their parents brought them up. That said I don't think they should have ever have been released; but their parents were just as guilty and should have gone to prison too"

Gross assumptions probably purported by media of the time.

Many children suffer at the hands of their parents, do they all turn into murderers?
