It's not just the DM that are guilty of this though: other papers are quite fond of using moral outrage in order to move units. Why else would we get so much space devoted whenever x celebrity cheats on their partner/husband/wife |

Have not purchased a paper in 10 years.
They are all as bad as each other.
Have to be honest and say we have the papers we deserve..someone buys all this self-righteous crap.

Totally and utterly disagree! I've been a Daily Mail reader for over 35 years; I have a brain, am very capable of making rational decisions and don't tget taken in with what they sometimes print.

Agree about the Daily Express/Daily facist, just a point to make on the express, it used to have a news desk and journalists outside of london, for the last 5 years its hasnt employed anyone outside of london, and one of its news editors was recently speaking to a friend of mine whos a freelancer and agreed its a "shit newspaper these days"
If youve read the mail for the last 35 yrs then good on you, but unfortunatly then you will not see the problem it has for being so right wing and a nasty rag that blames all of the ills of the country on jonny foreigner. its a terrible paper with some of the worst journalism.
as are most papers these days celebrity led and low grade. only occasionally will i buy a paper these days as most items can be seen now for free online on free sites!! |

the mail is a hypocritical shit paper and worse online im afraid, just look at the headlines slagging off someone for showing too much cleavage, peado's etc, whilst in its celebrity section online Shows shots of gossip girl blake livelys pants when a gust of wind blows!! its editor is a bully (paul dacre) who regualry calls all his staff "fucking tossers", owner is a pornographer, need i go on!!

The only paper I read with relish is the Sunday Post. Theres a huge bundle of Sundays arrive, I take out the glossy mags to read chuck out the dvd's, kepe the crosswords and puzzles and my onion sets are drying on the vast majority of the rest of the papers.

The mail is owned by Lord Rothemere.
But in terms of being complete cunts, it's neck and neck between the two of them.
The funniest thing is the Express moralising about the state of the nation and then advertising 'Housewife cum sluts' on the Desmond owned channel X in it's TV guide. |

So much of all the papers is just PR material with a little re-jigging, take a topic you are interested in and follow on something like NewsNow and you soon discover which sources produce new material, and which are just recycling stuff.
First to press is not always best either, some publish so many mistakes that way, or don't check what they've been told is correct.
Used to be a journalist would check the accuracy, now its published and updated later if wrong. |
