IT?
never tried Italian vermouth before
And what Gins do you buy and as importantly, what tonics?
I've a nice Hortus in the cupboard, but it's got to be a good tonic as it's light on the botanicals

Think I’ve got eleven bottles of gin in at the moment. I try to add to it regularly, we have a shop fairly local to us that stocks 450 different types, so I try to get a new one to try each time. Got some lovely ones at the mo - Death’s Door, Cuckoo and Silent Pool.
Tonic wise I tend to stick with one of the Fever Tree ones, mostly due to ease of availability around here. Decent tonics are apparently harder to come by than the gin itself!
Have you tried the Ginventory app? It’s great

We got a Slovenian Gin called One Key Gin which was very nice. We also like Silent Pool Gin which is a local distillary.
Tonic is always Fever Tree with a bit of grapefruit peel in the glass |

1) Harris Gin with grapefruit segment and straight Fevertree tonic.
2) Dyfi Pollination with Aromatic Fevertree and a wedge of lime.
3) Homemade sloe gin served at room temperature with a wedge of Dorset Blue Binney cheese and a handful of walnuts. Heavenly

Fevertree tonics, Harrington gin for a treat, Bombay Sapphire for "normal"
Favourite combo is
Rhubarb Harrington Gin +
Fevertree Elderflower tonic
+ a big slice of grapefruit zest
It's so delicious it'll make your socks roll up and down! |

"I agree with putting fruit, peel etc. In an "ordinary" gin, but when you gave a craft gun, much like a major whiskey, shouldn't you just let the aromatics of the gin speak for themselves? "
Not according to the distillers! They all come with recommended garnishes depending on the botanicals used |

"Rhubarb and ginger is my fave Gin" I am just sampling this for the first time this evening , just a normal tonic it’s yummy ,,, usually stick to Hendricks with cucumber wedge but this is rather more ish ,,, how did I miss this thread, I will also try grapefruit if I’m adding to a basic gin ( Aldi own brand is far nicer than Gordon’s ) |
