Last night he got an assist, gave away a penalty which he saved and then gifted a goal away for. He was in the worst team of the season last year in Serie A and made the most mistakes to let in goals. Before that if anyone remembers his glorious performances against Iceland and Scotland. Why on earth isn't the guy in a pub team somewhere and please, please don't take him to Russia. Your Thoughts fellow jabbers and any Hammers fans |

Let's not forget this guy was the best keeper we could find in England.
I agree, he was terrible at City. I'm not a footballer expert , but The problem with him, he's alright, but when it matters to pull off good keeping skills, he falls short. He makes lots more mistakes than other keepers around him, and when he does they are howlers, and can cost a game for his team. |

He is a good keeper his confidence has been hit badly by what is in front of him and he gets highlighted more on the goals he lets in because the defence are so bad. Pickford is now surely going to be England’s Number 1 for years to come but I think if butland had not of got injured recently he would of been in before Pickford took over. Amen |

The contrast between good keeping and poor keeping could be seen in the difference between Jordan Pickford’s penalty save and Joe Hart’s. Picford parries the ball intentionally and powerfully to safety in exactly the direction he wanted it to go. Whereas Hart also guesses the right way but just parries the ball back onto Rooney’s head. Both get a good pair of hands on the ball, but one executes the save with technical skill the other doesn’t. |

"At least he won't be in goal for the massacre at City on Sunday
Just woke up in my Liverpool hotel bedroom and for a few seconds I genuinely couldn't remember if we had lost 4-0 or 5-0
To be honest we were so bad last night that any keeper would have struggled "
That is true, but I’ve seen Man Utd getting pasted on the pitch but David De Gea keeps a clean sheet. Poor defending and poor goalkeeping are independent of each other to a degree. Put both together and you leak goals like a sieve. An excellent goalkeeper can mitigate a considerable amount of poor defending. |

Thanks for so many interesting comments. I just hope that you are right - England have suffered from the lack of the right goalkeeper many times before and it is a real shame that I fear he will be playing in the world cup. I know he has a poor defence but he is consistently bad. He was genuinely in Serie A worst team of the season and I have to agree that a wonderful man like Bilic suffered from his signing. He is officially the worst keeper in the Premier League. He is certainly consistent. But you are right he has lovely dandruff free hair soles take him to Russia!
