I know a lot of you on here don't like social media.
But sometimes it's not as bad as people think
Yesterday a friend of mine posted that she had been pickpocketed and took her purse out of her bag
In the purse was cash she had worked hard for to buy her kids their Christmas presents which she was shopping for that day
It's not nice having money stolen at the best of times but more so this time of year
So me and a friend started a group via messenger so she didn't know
And the good people of Facebook in our town donated
We have exceeded the £500 which was stolen
And the rest we have raised is going to be donated to two charities
So just goes to prove that Facebook and that bad sometimes |

Thats super kind! People are generous and good to each other, its a shame some people think its okay to steal and ruin peoples happyiness.
I think social media gets a lot of stick because people use it as a negative outlet so often nowadays. I dont mind it, once you get past all the drama and use it how you want it anyway ha. |

We have a neighbourhood group that’s like crime watch, it’s a very useful tool and has helped people get things stolen returned to their rightful owner as well as being vigilant about suspicious activity. |

"My house insurance covers me if i am the victim of theft when out and an about
It even covers loss of cash?? "
It can do depending on what type of cover you have. |

You're making an assumption she owns her own home and isn't skint. Renters are less likely to have house insurance, and people living hand-to-mouth less likely still. |

So not a bad investment if you tend to walk around with valuables worth ~£500 or more like i do (i.e. laptop). |

Yes, if you do have expensive items you can get cover for them if stolen away from property. |

I'm sure mine has a clause about not covering loss or theft of cash. Let's face it,it would be very easy for the less scrupulous to put in a fraudulent claim. |

Was on Facebook left it 5 years ago never went back, I’m sure there are many good things in there but for me personally the bad outweighs the good so I choose to stay away. I think I’m the only person in my office who isn’t on it and I don’t want to know what they had for dinner last night and I’m not interested in them seeing my holiday snaps either |

Well start by imagining yourself as a narcissist and then it might seem more appealing to you... |

"Not on Facebook. Do not really understand what it is. "
It's like anything, it's down to how it's used by the individual.
Some people use the forums to debate and chat, thiugh use the green tick and you'll see arrogant judgemental sorts trying to belittle and argue and assert themselves.
It does no real harm. |

Yup. I find it invaluable for keeping track of dances and gigs and who's going where. I keep my privacy settings high, my friends list hidden, and if someone posts too much I just turn them off my newsfeed!
I don't have any of Jeremy Kyle's people on there and guess what, it never gets Jeremy Kyle style!! About the worst I see is left wing liberal friends getting a bit self-righteous..... |

A place for narcissists to bring out the worst in each other
Fab?"
The average picture on fab has tits in it, that's something most people are interested in. The average picture on facebook is either children or food and that's really not interesting to the majority of other people. |
