Fairytale of New York (of course) Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses, 2000 Miles by The Pretenders and I Believe In Father Christmas by Greg Lake.
And I love A Winter's Tale by David Essex and Thank God It's Christmas by Queen. |

"Silent Night.
Original or re-release?"
Wasn't the original in German or something? I like the Bing Crosby version. Used to sing it in my church choir and it has always been my favorite of the songs we'd sing. |

The Power of love - Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
If we ever suffer from temporary insanity and get married, I'd have this as my first dance regardless of the time of year. |

"Silent Night."
As a New Yorker I would have thought you would have gone for Fairytale of New York! Is that a popular song in the US, or do you have a totally different set of Christmas Classics? |

Honestly, Marc and I had never even heard that song before coming to the UK. There isn't a totally different set of Christmas Classics - there's plenty of overlap - but I do think there is a slight skew. So the core songs are the same, but then some subsets are completely different.
Since I've heard Fairytale of New York I'll say that it's good, but since I don't associate it with my childhood Christmas it will never be my favorite (or even one of my favorites). |

I guess so much of our love of Christmas comes from our childhood. |

"I have to choose one?
In order of preference
Last Christmas
Christmas wrapping
Fairytale of New York
Stop the cavalry (yes I know it's not 'really' a Christmas song) "
That's alright, The Power of Love, by Frankie Goes To Hollywood isn't a Christmas song. |

There were 3 songs of the same title all released more or less at the same time, Jennifer rush , Hughy Lewis and the news , and Frankie Goes to Hollywood ,
but one of my favourites , apart from Fairytale of New York has to be Bing Crosby and David Bowie Little Drummer Boy , just a perfect Christmas song |

That's why I made sure to say, Frankie Goes To Hollywood. David Bowie is always a good call. |
