I don’t look at winks I think I have about 600 so maybe they just get ignored ? It does seem to be a sign of interest though

I kinda thought that women get like 100 a day! - I’ll msg but a wink is like saying hi in a bar walking past and gauging a reaction - like eye contact before a chat?

I think you're confusing it with a wank

I don’t think it’s a cop out but the sender should be aware that a lot of people never look at winks, so if they are doing it to show interest it could be missed.

Winks are ok, I never remember to look at them. They are pretty low priority if your dealing with messages though!

A wink is OK. But if the winker has an empty photoless one-line profile, they really shouldn't expect a wink back.

I rarely look at who has winked me in all honesty as I am entertained enough getting through my messages.

So is repeat looking...

Both kinda just cop out as it doesn't take any imagination... Much like a right swipe 'yeah might be interesting but cant be bothered to make the effort and message something that sets me apart from all the other winks'. One step below... a message that says 'Hi'...

I don't look if I've any winks...which I just did and seen a few.

Some people see it as an ice breaker, to show you’re interested, other see it as being lazy, most people don’t even look at them though, it’s one of the many tools of Fab that can either be embraced or just glossed over.

If you're really interested in someone I would say to message them,I don't even think to look at my winks.

We get winks, if we wink back would ecpect them to start convo but rarely this happens - its like they wink and run. Dont wink back to single males but if they message and polite will chat but make it clear no meeting as our profile says.

I use winks in one of two ways;

One is the “Bloody Hell I would if I could but we’re miles apart so it’s never going to happen unfortunately”

Two is the “This is a knowing wink to a forum friend and I just read your cheeky comment in a thread”

Winks are ok but not in isolation.

I often get winks where the profile is either hidden or there's no pics or maybe just one rubbish pic and no or very little text on the profile. What am I meant to do with that?, I have no idea about the person at all. If that's how you want to run your profile that's fine but if you want a wink back you need to give me something to go on.

I wink people (mainly couples) that I really fancy but I'm unsure if im what they looking for. So rather than spending time and effort writing a really good message that may just get deleted; so, I send a wink, it's my is way of testing the water. It rarely works but when it does...

Winks are a sign of interest. If we get one and are interested we will respond with a message.

I like it. My statistics are probably 2 replies to every 10 msgs I send so a wink just saves a lot of time instead of writing to all of em to get most the msgs deleted. Obviously as I can see some people get a lot of winks so don't even bother with them but hey.. I'm doing alright so I'll stick to what I do lol can you imagine sending a msg to everyone you like though ? Looooong ting

Thing is for every person that looks at winks they'll be one that doesn't. So you don't know what the outcome of sending a wink is. This was confirmed to us when we sent a wink with no response only to get an opening message from them months later, they didn't look at winks, too many, but didn't delete them either.

No different to fabbing pics, some do it because they like the pic, others do it to hopefully get your attention.

The only real way to be sure is a message, so pull your big boy/girl socks up & blooming send one!

"I’m a fan of winking but is it a bit of a cop out? "

I'll wink people if they haven't put much effort into their profile.

Eg "I'm a woman looking for men between 18 & 99"

To see if they look at my profile and want to take it further.

If they actually write a profile, saying what they hope to find, I'll email (if I fit their likes and dislikes, or nearly. If she likes beards, it may be just a preference or might be a prerequisite, so I might ask)

It is a bit useless for single guys (was for 10 years) as fems and couples get enough messages to not need them. But between cpls it’s proven to be very eventful for us

No. I think it's a wise preservation of your energy to wink, so that you'd reserve investment of messaging for those who have a more likely reciprocal interest.

I don't mind receiving winks at all but I don't send them generally. I have done by accident as it's next to the message button, so my first message is apologising for the unintentional wink!

You can go a month in here, sending well-crafted, polite, respectful messages, to profiles you genuinely match, to receive ‘message read’ but no reply, or ‘message deleted’. It should be easy to appreciate how people fall back on winks as an easier ‘opener’

We like to wink to express an interest. We've found that most couples and single ladies expect to be messaged and pursued like mad though.

Just see winks as mild expressions of interest , no more , so in no way legally binding ??

No impact. Don’t check them. Think if you really want my attention you’ll message.

So maybe it’s like a...‘think you look nice but not that interested’

Or a..,‘I’m interested but...’

I know I don’t fit what you’re looking for.... I live a million miles away.

Or a...,I’m just too lazy (also file under not that interested)
