I am very much with you on the artistic, erotic and meditative notes. I would add it is very sensual, and very much like a choregraphy.
I practice Shibari with a circle of rope enthousiasts in Leeds. Through FL we connect to the Shibari community accross the whole of Europe. We often welcome guest tutors to our workshops and we share knowledge and learn together.

The roles can be shared depending on the dynamics of the relationship but usually there is a 'rigger' who likes to tie and learn the ropes and a 'bunny' who likes to be tied which itself requires some learning. |

You'd have to explore the fetish scene to find the good riggers, it's not really a swing thing.
