Best gig you've been too

I've been to a lot of gigs, AC/DC, Guns n Roses, Motorhead, Oasis, Rammstein, Kasabian and The Prodigy have all been highlights, but if asked to pick a favourite it would be all four times I've seen Airbourne, nobody else comes close to their live shows, absolutely mental!!  |

My best was Duran Duran 2 years ago. I'd waited 35 years to see them and was not one bit disappointed at all. Other than that I think Black eyed peas was the 2nd best |

A charity gig back in 2009 in a pub in Camden for the Jail Guitar Doors charity which ended with Billy Bragg, Mick Jones of the Clash, Wayne Kramer of MC5 and the drummer out of Foo Fighters playing Kick out the Jamms amd jail guitar doors. Fucking awesome!
For full gigs, it's too hard to call. Contenders would be Jane's Addiction around 1990. The Wonder stuff's first reformation gig in 2000, Levellers at the water rats last year, any Carter USM gig ever and Frank Turner at Wembley. I go to a lot of gigs! |

Green Day at the o2 2011 I think are the only massive band we have seen (also was by far best gig ever).
Been to loads smaller gigs, Coheed and Cambria, The Used, Seether and Bullet for my Valentine are stand outs for us.
Also been to several festivals which have been epic. |

Black Sabbath at ozzfest 2001 were something special, but it's black Sabbath, so kind of is expected. strapping young lad/Devin Townsend band/summers hole was an amazing all round show though |

Basement Jaxx were supporting Robbie Williams and they are the best I've seen. Didn't know they were supporting him so it was a nice surprise x |

In no particular order top 5 gigs ever:
Green Day - Hyde Park 2017 - just amazing, totally blew me away - made all the more special by my daughter (who is a massive fan) being there and her face throughout.
Madness - Finsbury Park 1992 - their first gig back together after 6 years away - very emotional day for someone who'd followed them from almost the beginning (and still does)
Muse - Etihad 2014 - Was on the barrier at the end of the runway and the whole experience was just mind blowing.
The Beat - Hammersmith Palais 1982 - They were on fire that night, played a longer than normal set due to one of the support bands (Aztec Camera no less) throwing a strop and storming off stage.
Biffy Clyro - Belfast 2016 - On the barrier front and centre - amazing show from a band that I wasn't all that into beforehand. |

Isle of Wight festival 2017 was amazing soo many great bands over the weekend ...cannot wait until IOW2018 and they haven't even announced who is playing yet ..but as it's their 50th anniversary I'm guessing it's going to be epic  |

If we're including dance events I went to a LOT from 2001 - 2008 in the UK and abroad, the best being Qlimax 2007 in Arnhem, Holland. 28,000 people from all over Europe in one venue having it large for 12 hours |

Cancer bats october 2008 in the basement of the barfly in glasgow.
They had been supporting funeral for a friend at the ABC then had a small gig with about 75 people after in the barfly.
It was mental! Tiny room, lots of noise and the guys from iffy even made an appearance! |

That is impressive, you'll have me scouring my spacemen 3 biography when I get home looking for you in it! A mate and i got to record some demos with sonic boom about 15 years ago, that was quite the experience! 2 nights in a grotty studio in cov with an engineer from Hawkwind met Pete a few more times after that, I've heard a fair few horror stories about him but was always a cool guy when I met him.

The Spacemen 3 family tree is stretches out far .. not forgetting the Darkside - Spectrum - E.A.R. - Spiritualized . . . Quite a few Post Rock bands owe them a nod |

Live Aid, more for the being there than the music, which besides Queen U2 and Bowie wasn't actually that good.
I've been to that many gigs I can barely remember the good from the bad, to be honest.

U2 30 year anniversary of the Joshua Tree at Twickenham this summer
Not surprisingly there's mixed opinions of Bono but to hear the whole album live once again was awesome
A very close second was Simple Minds in Blackpool about 5 years ago on a tour when they played only pre stadium material and played only early songs up until 1982 in a small venue what a live act |

I've been to some great stadium gigs - Muse, Kasabian, Biffy - but possibly the best because it was so intimate was seeing Portishead in 1994 in the Eve club in London. I don't know what the capacity was, a couple of hundred maybe and was stood inches from them. The sound was amazing in such a small venue, the whole thing was magical and went right through you. |

Seriously! They were incredible.
Also in my top three is Thin Lizzy's last ever gig in the UK when they headlined the Sunday at The Reading Festival. Very emotional. They were on fire!
Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes on the New Jersey tour.
Castle Donington Monsters of Rock 1984. Phenomenal day and phenomenal line-up. |

Saw Foo Fighters back in 07 when they were arguably at their peak, and they didn't disappoint.
Seen The Red Hot Chili Peppers twice, both times they were awesome.
Fleetwood Mac were great in Manchester a few years ago, did about 4 encores!

Lizzy at Reading in 83 was one of my worst gigs ever though (Sabbath the night before with Ian Gillan was arguably worse though). Lynott was a complete wreck by that point. |

think tonight im going to plump for the stone roses at carlisle sand centre a year or so ago. it was a warm up show for their ethiad gigs and you needed to show up in person have some band merch to get a ticket a few days before it. so because it was venue jammed packed with fans who knew what they were like the atmosphere was electric |

Best big gigs were probably any of the Reading Rock gigs
Sabbath and the Banshee's in the same weekend takes some beating.
Carter USM went nuts at Plymouth quite a few years back and me and a mate ended up in one of the videos.

Without any shadow of a doubt, the best gig i have ever been to was Lynyrd Skynyrd at Knebworth in 1976. It was electric, just could not stop dancing, bopping, jumping...............fantastic gig. |

Not so much a gig but Pet Shop Boys, back at again at Brighton Pride, 20yrs after I first saw them there.
Absolutely bloody brilliant.
I went to Take That concert in 2011 as they were the support act, took my youngest son, then 7yrs old.

Managed to see a few of those...wish I'd got to go to a Crass gig. Dug out my stations of the crass LP last night and gave it a blast. Cant find my Flux of Pink Indians!
Was listening to Peter and the Test tube babies only a few days ago. Banned from the pubs is still an all time favourite |

I don't know it's my best gig but I saw John Squire when he was going solo in the early 2000's. It was quite an intimate venue so could get relatively close to him. As a big Stone Roses fan it was a bit of a dream come true. He played loads of Roses songs as well, pretty much note for note like the original recordings and it was just simply awesome! |

LCD Soundsystem at Alexandra Palace about 2 months ago. £50 a ticket was a bit steep i thought.
Once the gig was over realised it was worth every penny. Crowd was so diverse and feelgood. Vibe was new york excess. Wish i'd brought some magic fairy dust to amplify the night. Absolutely amazing gig |

Saw them in 2007 at Manc academy and its one of my top 5 gigs. Been to a few more since and they're never less than brilliant.

To those people who saw these gigs first time around doesn't it make you feel good to think 20-30 years later there are younger people still getting into what we listened to all those years ago ?
1 Person who looks better than he did first time around has to be Adam Ant ! took the wife to see him and she was like a bloody teenager all over again lol. |

I can’t agree with that. For example where is the rebellion in Music these days, the younger generation has a lot to be angry about politically!
Where is the current soundtrack for people growing up .. Music has been dumbed down! |

Ok what it was meant to read was for younger people like my 15 yr old daughter going to and listening to the same music I did when growing up. |

Easy, Prodigy greatest hits tour at the Brixton academy. I think about 2007 ish. Supported by pendulum, they opened with the remix of voodoo people, proper fucked it shit, I was Ill for weeks |

Opeth, anniversary of the Blackwater Park album, at the Albert Hall...was bloody amazing! An evening with Incubus a couple of years ago and Heart on the Bad Animals tour in about 1989, with Thunder supporting...ok there are a few more...I am crap at choosing but they would all be on here so gonna stop typing  |

Foo Fighters, Wrigley Field, Chicago 2015. Out of this world.
Dave Grohl sat on some sort of motorised chair after he'd broken his leg as well! Got tickets to see them play Olympic Stadium next June as well... Can't come soon enough! |

Haha! Yeah saw them around then in Leeds & were good but they absolutely stormed it this time. Think hes taken a robert smith direction with his vocals now for the new stuff too. Everyone was bouncing all over the place |

Elliott Smith in a smaller tent at Reading a good few years back and not too long before he passed away.
The icing on the cake was that Oasis were playing the main stage at the same time so Elliott's tent was fairly quiet. Managed to get near the front. |
