During the week, Greggs have had to make a a public apology due to some of their recent advertisement. In said advertisement was part of the nativity scene and in the manger, rather than Jesus, there was a sausage roll. Reportedly thousands of people complained about it being offended by replacing Jesus with a sausage roll. To me this is absolutely ridiculous. People need to grow up and not whine about such petty stuff. What do you guys think? |

Be interesting to find out whether it was Jews, Christians or vegetarians complaining...
After all, JC and family were Jewish.
No doubt some people were triggered... LOL
As an aside, I was in there yesterday having their festive sausage roll for lunch.
Nice

Different religions can be very strict on how you portray their charachters (to me that's all they are) and who am I to comment on what offends others. Sadly it's a reflection on the times we live in.
I wasn't offended but then I'm not religious.
I'd be more offended if they diddle with the steak bakes. |

They’ve had more publicity from it than they likely imagined. It’s a sausage roll, if you’re offended then consider all the other shit that goes on in the world and ask is it really that fucking bad |

I heard this discussed on the radio ... someone called to say a similar advert had appeared a few years ago from Babybel the edam cheese people.
When people complained about it they said. "Whats wrong? It IS the 'Baby cheesus'" ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

At least ya can prove sausage rolls are real! ... I actually haven't seen it, but as you can probably tell, I couldn't care less about it, I don't do religion or Greggs so as far as I am concerned they can do what they like ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

I don't think complaining will do much. If people find it offensive just boycott Greggs.
Of course in the interest of equality they now need to portray Mohammed as a doughnut and a transgender person as chicken slice. |

Actually think it may have been done for reaction. Look how much media coverage it got. Everyone talking about it and greggs reaping the extra advertising from it. Just my thoughts on it. ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Could have been muslims who complained. They believe jesus is the first son of God and also dont eat pork so would have been doubly offensive to them.
I do think it was offensive. As christian countries we have become accustomed to poking fun at ourselves.
In the past this was fine, we were all basically christians. However now a lot of people doing it are atheists or agnostics, and they are afraid to poke fun at other religions, but still feel its acceptable to do it to the christian ones, and I find that offensive.
Christmas is their holiday, and its a lovely holiday, if we cant even be bothered to respect them during this holiday, one all of us enjoy then it sickens me. |

For me, it was the hypocrisy. The thought of using a sausage roll would have not even gone past brain storming stage of another religion was considered.
Would it be done if it was advertising during a Jewish/Islamic festival? I know Christians eat pork, but it was the assumption that no Christian would mind.
I am a Christian, but am not seen in church apart from Christmas, weddings, Christenings and funerals. I'm not so much offended by the image as such. However, I am quite disturbed by the lack of respect and the expectation that those more pious than me are not respected. They have a right to their point of view to protest at some throwaway image on a subject that affects their lives. |
