So seeing as there's a thread discussing the inferior code.... how many of you Fabsters enjoy the 13 man/woman code and who's looking forward to England pummelling the Aussies in the WC final? |

Big shock with Fiji beating NZ today. The Kiwis have been poor but still didn't see that coming tbh! |

"Be great to see us lift the World Cup , also enjoyed playing both codes but league is better . Only my preference lol "
Your preference yet definitely the right choice! Got roped into 1 game of Union when 18 and I think I touched the ball twice... it was generally hidden by all the fat guys cuddling on the floor! |

TBF mate I think you're on the wrong thread. Gauging & biting is way more common in Union in the rucks & mauls. You're more likely to see a few "stray" elbows in league! |

Oh ok so there wasn't an issue a few weeks ago with that England player who by all accounts is shit hot (his name escapes me).
I get your point though and I don't wish to derail your thread and I'm not here to argue I was just pointing out that Rugby isn't the gentleman's game they all talk about in this case 'prodders'.
People cheat in all sports and I detest it.
Good luck to England by the way in the few remaining games left. |

League everytime, also surprised by the NZ v Fiji result. Going to be a tough game against PNG, boy do they grow them big in Southern hemisphere. The Aussies as always look class and must be favourites, but it would be ace to beat them in their own backyard. Come to think of it it would be just ace to beat them anywhere. |

Fiji learnt from the tongans and had nz rattled.... great result, Lebanon came close with a pretty spirited performance.... England will have quite a battle on their hands in the morning with PNG. Great in any sport when ‘lesser’ sides raise the bar. |

I got up with every intention of watching the nz game this morning but I didn't sleep well in truth and ended up napping .. i only caught the last twenty minutes when both sides were desperate for points.
Fiji winning is seismic for international RL |

Nah England will be too professional and once they withstand the early onslaught they'll win fairly comfortably I'd say, around 16-20 points. |

England rfl tactics are spot on at the moment , expect the same in the semi and confident the boys will bring it home . Has I said in earlier post i enjoyed my later years in Union , I believe union has progressed over the last ten years with the influence off ex rugby LEAGUE personell getting involved in the admin , coaching and players in the union game. .But playing both codes its League easily , The social side is exactly the same , iv made great friends for life in both codes and regually enjoy a pint and banter with them all . |

I'm sorry but England's tactics are anything spot on, I coach under 12s and would expect a better completion date of 60 percent, that is under 8s level, the defence is ok but their play is slow and has no penetration and just goes from one wing to the other with very little cutting edge
Mcgillvary has been outstanding I expect to see him in the nrl very soon |

Nope! The vast majority of league fans dislike Union and are bored rigid with it. The best thing they could do in Union is reduce the number of points for a penalty thus forcing both teams to run the ball more and get rid of the "we'll kick more points than you" mentality that 90% of teams have. |

Is it? Well that judgement is based on all my League supporting mates and the RL internet forums I use.i think you'll also find most Union fans don't give a toss about League. It's just the way it is. |

JNP has once a coach till recently , completion rates and stats are fine for individual assestments , but its the result that matters. Has for u12- 8s its all about skill development , individual and team building not stats. Good friend of mine coaching at the highest level always says its not pretty but we won . Who remembers stats at the end of game its the result |

Right but what about when it's 50 percent completion against Tonga and we are 18 points down, both the result and the completion are rubbish, if we cough up 50 percent position against australia if we get to the final they will put 40 up us |

JNP Think positive,( if we this and if we that ) Its up to the boys from the momentt the ref blows his whistle . They would have prepered for the game tactically , individually ,collectively has a team and all be in the right frame off mind . Personally I believe the boys will do it with a winning margin off 16-24 . But dont put your money on it ha ha ha COME on ENGLAND |

"Also he needs to give up on the Bateman at centre drop him to sub, put Percival to centre, and the team looks much more balanced with roby over hodgson "
I'm still puzzled why we have a natural centre in the squad and we play Bateman outwide. He's a much better back rower. Roby is a far better and more dangerous hooker than hodgson but Bennet loves his Aussie based guys. |

I guess he is trying to fit Bateman in, if he doesn't play centre and they move him to back row you have to lose Burgess whiehead or oloughlin, I would have Bateman on the bench then he can cover any injuries in the backs and the forwards,
Sam Burgess has done nothing all tournament because they try to play him for 80 minutes, he needs spelling |

Team looks strong for the semi , may look dis- jointed with Bateman at centre and Widdop at full back but its a strong selection. Roby effective from bench and Currie can cover in backs. Personally believe Bateman doing a good job in centres , has hes played there a lot for Wigan because of the injures over the past couple of seasons . Come on England |

For the unitiated, Hopoate was an Aussie League player who tried to give an opponent a prostrate massage during the match in the hope he would drop the ball.... |

Tonga will be so disappointed for blowing a couple of good chances in the first half, low in the tackle count inside England's 10 metre line, - but England's first half defence proved to win that game. |

that's what happens when you defend so hard for 73 ( ? ) minutes, - you run out of steam.

Just got to remember the game goes on for 80 mins. England seemed to be thinking about, what Hotel for final, lining up for National Anthem and how to stop Valentine and the Aussies. Anything bar let's just see the match out and make sure we are actually in the final. |

That tough game against Tonga can work two ways; - it can have been the perfect game to raise to the levels needed to win a world cup , which the Aussies simply haven't had, or it can have taken far too much out of them.
Personally I can only see the usual Aussie victory but I hope I'm wrong - & please no annihilation! |

Back foot? We started like a house on fire smashing it up and played decent rugby Jerry touched down on the corner and we were unlucky not to get another one, Bennett took oloughlin off after 20 minutes and it went to shit
.oloughlin has been immense this world cup and will be a big miss for England tommorrow |

TBF to Watkins he's improved a lot this world cup and has been fairly solid IMO. The problem is Gale, Brown & Bateman just aren't good enough and are going to have to play the game of their lives for us to have a chance. Agree that Screech is a big loss but hopefully Sam will do the job at 13.
Been out and got the shopping for the morning so it'll be an early Ashes start for me followed by a giant fry up and the Rugby.

Rugby league needs some ground roots support only then will it get better. But unfortunately with the fat controller at hq all he's bothered about is lining his pockets. And our good players go down under and some become great. The passion for the game is there it needs nurturing |

Couple of things, Bateman is a class player being played out of position however he still is probably a better option than Percival and I say that as a Saints fan. Percy makes to many errors and this is exposed again and again, in super league without the intensity he gets away with it by scoring tries. If he spilled ball at that level England would be punished. Gale again is a quality player, but for Castleford though! and that is not disparaging to Castleford it's really the pitch at Weldon Road is a lot smaller and easier to dominate. He has always been found wanting on the larger pitches - same at old Trafford, that said he has kicked some good kicks in the final and probably played his best game to the tournament in the final. The halves are an issue but the halves didn't lose the final, they did their job and did it well enough, erodes and execution cost the final and with more high level intense games these errors would be reduced, there simply aren't enough intense games at super league level to work on these areas- again look at Percy. I think the squad was about right! But,,,, A bigger concern for me is the quality of player at every position coming through. when lockers retires when James Graham retires and when James Roby retires and adding to that burgess I really do believe what's coming behind is nowhere near as good - everybody raves about Walmsley he simply is not as good as Jammer and certainly not capable of playing 60 70 or 80 minutes of intense rugby - as one example |

"So seeing as there's a thread discussing the inferior code.... how many of you Fabsters enjoy the 13 man/woman code and who's looking forward to England pummelling the Aussies in the WC final? " haha England had 1 line break in the whole game and couldn't score in the entire match |
