Christmas Countdown Part 1
Jump to: Newest in thread
I have a Fab friend who loves all things Christmas and I know some of you do too. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to share all things Christmassy? Where to get a bargain or that perfect decoration, the gift for someone who has everything or that Christmas accessory that just adds the finishing touch to your festivities. Of course there has to be a countdown and excitable chatter but Scrooge like behaviour isn’t allowed. There are reasons Christmas isn’t what it was for me and it’s tinged with sadness, but that’s my issue and not to be projected on others. So let the Christmas countdown thread begin, merry Christmas Babs ho ho ho |

For me personally, i prefer the build up. All the shops with their window displays, local councils putting up trees and lights, the adverts, the general excitement of something nice in the atmosphere. However, i am disappointed that the Coke Cola advert gets earlier every year. |

I go to our local villages panto. It's beauty and the beast this year. There's only 4 of them on a tiny stage, not sure how they do it but it's amazing. It only costs £16 and there's 5 of us. It's on Christmas Eve so it's a lovely way to kick it off.
God I come across as a right scrooge don't I? If I went into town it would be over £100! I do love a bargain.

Actually it wasn’t Coca Cola that made him red, it was cartoonist Thomas Nast |

Christmas starts for me after the Reading toy run (10 Dec this year) where over 2,000 bikers dress up and decorate their bikes and ride from a meeting point in Reading to Barnado’s in Wokingham to deliver toy donations.
We go and watch them arrive in to Wokingham every year waving to all the bikers, that’s when I start to feel festive, I love it!

Aww Pink You do know how much I love Christmas. I was up in the wee hours wrapping presents with a Christmas film on in the background I have glitter in places you don’t even want to know about!
I love the whole atmosphere of Christmas. I have wonderful family memories growing up and I want to ensure that my children grow up with family traditions and lovely memories. I’ve loved and lost and I shall remember them at Christmas (as I do all year).
I have a Christmas bauble for each of those I’ve loved and lost and a bauble for each of my children from their first Christmas, which are always on the tree. We also have a decoration which is a heart shaped box and at the end of the festive season my daughter writes a note about our Christmas and what we enjoyed, this is placed in the box but we don’t read it until the following Christmas when we decorate the tree and open the box together. Family and traditions, music, games, laughter, togetherness. That’s my Christmas.
I’ve had mulled wine and a mince pie (Meli is right ... Greggs are the best), watched films, listened to music and I have the Christmas spirit
Oh and Reece’s Christmas chocolate trees are amazing! |

I usually go to the Manchester markets which are lovely. I missed out on the skating last year so it is on my list for this year. Not that I can skate ... I’m not sure whether the Gluhwein helps or hinders
I’ve never made my own Christmas cake |

I'm a Grinch but I'm not too proud to take advantage of Tesco's Xmas bargains. One of which is a Galaxy selection box with around 250g of chocolate until 23 Nov I think for just £1.50.
A great stocking filler, or a very cheap way to buy lots of chocolate if you're a greedy guts like me |
