Sometimes when reading a forum thread, do you get to the 40th post and want to reply without reading the rest of the thread?
I do!
But, sometimes you find a reply where clearly the poster hasn’t read passed the 10th post and is asking questions or making (incorrect) comments that are answered much later on.
Is it impolite not to read every post? |

I think it depends on the thread. If its a generic what do you prefer type of thread I don't but if its a discussion then I do, I want to be at the right place in the chat and not bringing up points already covered. |

There and to the left a bit |
I think it very much depends on the thread, some of the more lighthearted ones you know you can skip to the end, whereas the more "debatey" ones it often pays to read the whole thread, or at least skim through it - as you know as soon as you post something someone will be along with a counter post that starts "If you'd bothered to read the whole thread...." |

I don't know if it's impolite as such. It depends on the length of the thread - if it's too long I will just read the helpfully ( ) copied and pasted posts towards the end as well as the start. If it's a funny/very serious/shorter thread I read it all but I'm a fast reader so it's not a chore.
I do try and make sure I'm not just repeating what someone else said earlier and giving praise to a person who makes the same point as someone earlier (yeah, you pooheads. Not cool!). |

I think the reality is some replies are quite long and have gone off piste.
Maybe I have it wrong but I feel like I'm engaging with the op more so than the other replies. |

Turn on cloaking mode and post away to your hearts content. That way people can repeat you, they get requoted and your comment dissapears in the annals of Fab

No.
I read the opening post sometimes and just answer that like it was a straight question to me.
Sometimes I read the whole discussion if I can be bothered

I read quickly...
Sometimes I get bored quickly and just respond to something that captures my interest
Often i just cba reading all the reposts and quotes..
And just post something banal..
Different thread different day different approach.
