I also have salad cream on my beans and chips though!"
Are you talking Bisto type gravy? |

I'm not northern, more of a nomad really, but pie, chips and gravy is my comfort food of choice...which it just so happens I'll be having for dinner tonight. My mouth is watering at the thought!

Glad to see a few posts for chips, cheese and gravy! A school dinner essential for me. Whenever I mention it to people now they think I'm completely weird. |

No. Absolutely no. And it really is a Northern thing (Southerner lost and confused oop North).
p.s. what’s the need for 101 names for a flipping bread roll?

Likewise. Nothing on chips except salt and vinegar |

"Oh FFS!
Gravy belongs on Roasties not chips.
It's all wrong.
Mayo and ketchup belong on chips.
Roasties are just cubed chips "
Yes but roasties are bigger and don't go soggy with gravy ...
Chips just turn to mush and that's manky!

I like those chip shop fat ones but they need salt and vinegar and mayo and ketchup
Gravy is all wrong unless it's with mashed potato or roasties just admit it!

You're all wronguns!
Especially you Mistress D!
Calling roast potatoes cubed chips!
And then putting gravy on chips and eating pie!
Just no!
Pie goes with mash, and chips go with mayo and ketchup sometimes in a sandwich.
I want that now I'm a little tipsy and would even eat chips and graaaavy ( said in a northern accent )

Don't you start!
Mayo is an amazing food group that will always enhance certain foods like chips( not crisps for the Americans out there ) or tuna ....
Do you not like coleslaw or potato salad?!
Weirdo .....

Coleslaw? No!
I do like vinegar-based potato salad, though. Not mayo.

Chips go with so many things. Gravy works. As does mayo. As does ketchup, brown sauce, salad cream, coleslaw, various mustards and the joy that is burger sauce. The trick is in not over condimenting said chips and considering any chip accompaniment. Chips and pie? Ketchup and gravy. Chicken and chips? Mayo or coleslaw. You get the idea.
Oh, and proper poutine is food of the gods. And it won't work without gravy. So chips and gravy is not inherently wrong or weird. It's all about preferences. |

Gravy all day long with pie and chips, it would be just plain weird with fish
Oh it works on fish too "
Battered cod. Mushy peas (try pea wet sometimes on your chips!) and gravy. |
