Sunday roast?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I've recently gone off roast Sunday meals as I find the effort I put in doesn't give me the required satisfaction.
So I'm hoping having a break will make me love them again.
Is having beans on toast wrong on a Sunday evening ?

"Never understand Yorkshire pudding with chicken
You wouldn’t understand it as a sweet pudding then. "

Nothing wrong with beans on toast at all ... so long as you don't have a meet afterwards |

"Never understand Yorkshire pudding with chicken
Nor me"
Yorkshire puddings with everything! I know it's traditionally only supposed to be with beef but they're too damned lovely!
I'm going over my Nan and grampas house for lunch (again) then have a nap on the recliner massage chair |

My gran made a whole tray of Yorkshire pudding that you cut in slices, not small round ones. Served the traditional Yorkshire way with lettuce, onion and a bit of mint in vinegar which had been soaked overnight. As a starter on its own. Delicious. |

Got one of those mini chicken roast tray things, 2 breasts, 2 sausages and stuffing balls, no waste. Will have roasted veggies and tons of proper gravy. That's for tea tonight.
Not forgetting mint sauce! |

Chicken roast tray things! Philistine! What you need is someone to lovingly prepare you a roast dinner from scratch. |

"A roast is too much hassle for just me....though I'm not gonna lie...I could demolish one today! "
I reckon it's one of the quickest meals to do, just bring it on a roasting tray and slap it in the oven, cooks itself. |

There's prep and all the leftovers that would go to waste is what puts me off |

Leftovers never go to waste in this house. Veg etc gets used for bubble n squeak for tea and any leftover meat for sandwiches at work tomorrow.

No prep required with chicken these days and if you buy washed root veg you shouldn't peel them anyway then turn left overs into soup....Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, pfft!
Alternatively, invite me over!(just joking) |

Tbh I can't be arsed faffing with a whole chicken, though I do have stock in the freezer from the last whole one I had so will be using that in the gravy.
But I would love to have one cooked for me, no chance of that here though I'd starve before that happened! Unless it was a birds eye microwave roast dinner! Haha |

Compared to some of the sights we can see right now, pj's would be perfectly acceptable. |

I pity for the future, people! Cooking shouldn't be thought of as a chore, it should be time lovingly spent knowing you are going to fulfill the person of your choice.
Okay, I'll fetch my coat! |

"I'm off to my mam's for Sunday roast but it may be too difficult to eat so I may end up with having soup later." Soup is usually nice but unless its a thick soup or broth with a few slices of bread I,d still feel empty If just for dinner.

I cut up a home grown butternut squash then cooked in the oven garnished with black pepper, and stir fry spray for a starter, later haveing two pork chops, petit peas, sweetcorn, boiled potatoes, and roast potatoes, in meaty gravy, sprinkleing some dried thyme on top of chops prior to cooking.. Could of left the roast potatoes a bit longer.. but still nice. |
