That really depends what your pain threshold is? I had quite a large one on my shoulder that took 6 hours but after the initial pain it became quite pleasurable to have done. But mostly fleshy areas are less painful. Over bone gets very painful.
Go for it and once you have one you will get another! |

I have first one planned it's going on my hip and is only a small one. I'm ok with pain what I'm REALLY going to struggle with is staying in one position for more than 10 mins - can you get up and 'shake it off' every so often? |

Think of proper placement of your tatts before you start thinking of where will hurt least and plan ahead, unless you want a Hodge podge of various different tatts here and there..my first couple I wasn't forward thinking enough resulting in a cover up in order to start tying stuff together.
Wherever you get one it will hurt to some degree, maybe don't start on bony on thin skinned areas as hey do hurt more but yeah...think ultimately of how you will look finally |

I got a couple of tats, none of them hurt me at all.
I'd heard that the less skin/muscle and like if its a thin layer over bone, it will hurt more. But thats just what I heard, all seems the same to me, like getting pinched. |

Yeah, on long sitting I go out for fag breaks and stuff like that, they're happy for you to have a little shift around. Your paying for the time usually rather than price per piece so do what you will |

You're not kidding! My tattooist had my mate in a few days after doing my sternum, he said every time he asked how I was doing I gave him a look like I wanted to kill him. |

If you google tattoo pain bodymap that can help. You can also get numbing cream but some tatooist don’t allow it.
My back wasn’t too painful but hurt like a bitch when she got to the top of my shoulder |

I've always wanted to get one for years, as i do like the look of some of them but when i do pluck the courage to do it i back out!!
I don't know what makes me stop as the pain part i think I could handle (had a fight with a chainsaw many moons back) Might be just plain not sure what to get yet, maybe just one dot on my bum cheek lol |

Don't get up at all! That makes it worse and will definitely piss off the artist! |

"Grow a pair! Tattoo design and placement are more important than having something in the place that would hurt the least "
This! To be honest if the pain worries you don’t do it, being in a “least” painful place really isn't the answer.
All tattoos hurt...fact, although numbing cream can help but can affect the ink going in and healing times can be much longer. |

The guy who I use doesn’t entertain numbing cream.
Nice tattoos btw! |

I wouldnt worrie about the pain. Your body will send its own natural pain endorphins to the spot being tattooed after about 15 mins to ease the pain.
I had numbing cream on my head when i had a 5 hour session on it. It worked for a bit, but it still hurt. It healed fine. It didn't take any longer to heal and it hasnt had any effect on the tattoo. |

I have just had my first one, just above my wrist. It didnt hurt and I actually dozed off for while. The sore bit was the highlights she put on last. To be honest, the worst bit of the whole thing is now, when it is itching like a bitch as it is healing and I cant scratch it! |
