I had the same problem. Disabling the People You May Know box solved the problem for me.

Not a fecking clue...no idea why they'd make a feature of the site more inconvenient...

Accessing the "Find Friends" link will help you navigate to the "Remove All Contacts" option and then disable the Friend Finder widget in the side pane of your profile. Navigate to your Facebook profile and then click “Find Friends” in the Favorites section. Click “Remove all contacts,” and then click “Remove.”

I always put this down to fat thumbs syndrome until it was someone I'd never heard of before or even looked familiar, think they lived in Australia, so I have no idea how that happened.

I don't understand why they'd accept someone they didn't know either?

I do not use my real identity on here (Yes I am on as a single guy too) and never have. The ex-wife made that mistake and almost fucked up so bad.

"No Facebook. No problem "

Yeah, I need it because that's where my dances and gigs are advertised.

Similarly I use it to find out what local events are on, to buy and sell stuff, see news reports ect.

Seems a poor excuse, is there no other advertising avenues you can use?

i have very few people on mine, and never have this problem, but my friend who only opened an account recently for her work, gets it daily..maybe its linked to how much activity it registers.

I'm not advertising, I am attending. That's the only reason I joined, it is the publicising medium of choice for them all.

Bristol East

Happened to me this morning.

FB told me some geezer in Glasgow had accepted a friends request I know I did not send.

My privacy is set at friends of friends. By coincidence, a friend posted a warning today that her account had been hacked, but she had now changed the password?

Coincidence?

I used my laptop to do this - couldn’t see it anywhere on my phone app. Hopefully it will work

Has anyone ever successfully entirely deleted their Facebook? I tried about a year ago and it gives you a captcha to enter. The captcha is a almost impossible mess to decipher and makes it impossible to delete your account. The Audio captcha prompt didn’t work either. Very dodgy.

Even when you delete your account they just turn it off and keep all your info stored.

Dunno how long it is before it gets deleted properly.

They’re gonna have to change the laws in a few years I bet I’ve deactivated mine.

Facebook never deletes any data or profile....unless it's changed recently.

It merely deactivates and hides it. The data remains and can be reactivated.

But then why would anyone trust personal data to a data mining company that has over 20 privacy settings that need to be found and set to give even a minimum level of protection to users.

Take a wild guess why they make it so hard to delete or make private your personal data...

It's all about their profit from your information
