Verifications from organised socials

Verifications are supposed to show that the person you met is the person in the photos on their profile so when you meet someone at an organised social, do you ask to see face pics on their profile before verifying them or do you just verify them not knowing if you’re verifying someone who could have pics on their profile that are say ten years out of date?  |

Good point OP... no I hadn't seen some people's face pics before I met them in person at a social. But some people meet without ever sending face pics. |

I wouldn’t verify someone if I didn’t know what they looked like on here compared to how they look in the flesh.

That's a good point op. I never thought of it like that before. My veris tend to be based on the person I've met, not a comparison to their profile. I'm going to look at verifying differently next time.

Good question OP. I've only been to the one social but everyone I verified/verified me following that is someone I'd shared face pics of beforehand. But that may not always be the case, you're right. |

Good point, other people had seen face pics or knew the people before. So confirmation was there. |

I think a few people I sent my face pic. The rest I just introduced myself as my profile name.

I think we've had face pics, if not before then after a social, usually because I need reminding who's who! I think though we would need to be very tactful verifying someone who we'd met at a social but looked different to their pics  |

For me, giving a verification is more than about an identity parade, it's a way of thanking your date and letting all of fabs know that I've enjoyed our time together. |

If it's an organised social then surely there's a guest list that the organisers have compiled. So all at the social should already have past the genuine profile test just by attending. If you chat and then get their profile name surely you can take it that they are lo they claim to be.
Or is it that I've missed the meaning of this thread |

My face pics are in my private gallery and I would guess that most people are also, so unless you had seen their face pic before or after it ould be hard to tell if they look like their pics.

Surely when you verify someone after meeting them, you look at their photos so you know that you're verifying the right person????

Exactly my point.
I will chat to people from the forums without seeing a face pic whereas I won’t with people who aren’t on the forums.
But if I was asked to verify someone, I’m verifying them for everyone on Fab not just for myself so I don’t want to verify someone who is lying or using pics that don’t reflect who they are now, |

I'm actually horrible at verifying people from organized socials. I tend to get lazy about it and only verify those who've already verified me (sorry to all those at the Tea Party Social I went to once! ).
But I've usually seen their face pic on face pic Friday or something. But not always. Interesting point. |

Hmmmmm well the only pics on my profile are Halloween ones. Verifications from the Xmas social I can’t wait to see. I had no pics prior to the MLS but still got veris, were they wrong to verify me? |

I used to expect a bit more from the single females of Fabs, like an ability to actually read my verifications. I now don't - in part because I once dated a female fabster and her volume of messages was staggering, so I get that it helps to quickly filter out some of the suitors. Also; I no longer really care about meeting people off here, so I don't make any effort, in a general sense. I stay because I am occasionally reminded that there are some awesome people out there who appear to be able to think for themselves. |

I decided some time ago that I dislike the whole verification system, its a bit seedy, to be honest (I would prefer if it was just a box you ticked if you'd met someone, as opposed to this apparent obligation to write a "readers letters in a porno" style assessment of someone's sexual prowess). So now I don't display them at all. |
