As you can tell i am of pakistani origin. My grandparents fought in the secound world war against the japs.
I wear the poppie with pride but the looks I get from people from all walls of life as to say why u wearing that is unbelievable.

Unfortunately there are lots of narrow minded ill- informed people.
Keep wearing it with pride, and if some arsewipe asks, explain it to them. It may also help them get over their issues.
P.s. i'm not saying you have to explain yourself, just that if you do, it may open their eyes and ultimately help everyone. |

There's pro more white British people who wear the poppy and don't have a clue about what their relatives did n the wars. It's nice to hear about our heratige and life stories. Don't let anyone make you think you don't belong.

I was shocked when I visited a war cemetery in France that the troops from areas that were part of the British empire at the time seemed to be segregated. You have as much rite to wear it as any one. Wear it with pride. |

Wear a poppy with pride, and maintain a respect for other nationalities and cultures by not using terms known to be potentially viewed as derogatory (once you know the term is often utilised in the negative — ignorance isn’t bliss once you’re no longer thus).

Not so much segregated but just different faiths with different burial traditions.
We have 2 Indian soldiers in a local grave yard near here from the second world war. Their graves are aligned differently to the Christian plots so are slightly apart.
They are still cared for by the commonwealth war graves commission. (as are all service graves home and abroad) and they will have poppies laid at them.

I think it's a lot of the younger generation who dont realise the involvement of other nationalities in the British war effort. Most just think it was Britain vs Germany, most probably don't even realise there was also the war in the Pacific.
I will be marching on rememberance day in full uniform with all the vets. |

Good man
Its about remembering, so in my eyes it makes no difference if someone had family ties to the wars. Its about respect and understanding what the older generations went through. And I dont just mean the Allies, as men, women and kids on both sides payed the price of a war, that, had they had the choice, would have lived and let live.
My Great Grandad was a navigator in the RAF and he always told me he knew he had a job to but the thought he was possibly dropping bombs on innocent people ate him up inside. War is hell
So wear that poppy with pride brother. We all shit out of our arse regardless of colour and creed.
