25 years ago this was broadcast, who remembers it? It was billed as a spoof but lots of people and I mean lots were duped into thinking it was real.

I remember watching it, thought it was brilliantly done at the time.

Did you watch it, did you think it was real?

I remember all the hype in the press and was annoyed I missed it because, if I recall correctly, it was never repeated. Now this thread's reminded me, I'll have to look it up on YouTube - in broad daylight of course!

It properly gave me the heebie jeebies! I was probably far too young to be watching it, and I assumed it was a real show, it was so perfectly staged. It was EXACTLY like all the live studio/field programmes with David Frost and Uri Geller and a phone-in that were all the rage at the time.

Apparently it led to a young man taking his own life

Remember this all too well proper shit me up. Especially with the 'live phone in' recall going into school the following morning was the talk in the class room.

Should really rewatch it.

That's right, pipes! And the wee girl had drawn loads of pictures of it. I was about 11 or 12 when I watched it and thought it was 100% real at the time

I still remember it now. I was only about 10 and allowed to stay up for it. My dear mum thought it hilarious to tell me it was real, so I genuinely believed that until recently!

Pipes!

Very cleverly done, I really want to see it again x

No, know it was a spoof from the moment I saw the programme advertised, and do you know why? Ghosts don't exist.

I've heard of it but never watched it as I was only 3 at the time.

However, googling it it sounds like Derren Brown's Séance. That was supposedly a real time séance, and when I watched it I was so freaked out I ran into my mum's bedroom. I must have been 13/14 at the time.

I remember watching this as a kid. I seem to remember actually being pretty scared by it as well, though I think I cottoned on fairly quickly that it was just a wind up. It seems ridiculous now but there just wasn't shows like this at the time. I remember everyone at school talking about it the next day.

Wow, we thought it was closer to 30 years ago that that programme first aired.

Remember the acting was extremely bad, the content was unsettling. When you realised it was bs, it’s a lot of fun. You can tell I’m bored responding to a forum over a year old.
