I am seriously terrified of spiders. Recently whilst watching the Sex and the City film in bed a big one rang across my bed. I screamed the bloody place down. It was hit with a shoe and the body disposed of but I'm still a bit nervy remembering it and for two nights after I was very jumpy.
I'm looking to go to Mexico next year, but the thought of tarantulas terrifies me. I've heard of Mexican red knee tarantulas and my detective skills tell me that they errr come from Mexico. I bert there lazing on the sunbeds with their wide hats and ponchos on, stretching their long hairy legs ....  |

I have found lots recently hiding, there is a huge one that is living in our shoe cupboard.
It's a bloody clever one too as Mr hasn't been able to get it,been in there for about 3 weeks now, keeps coming just to laugh as me before running back in.
I refuse to get anything out of there until it's gone.... spiders scare the pants off me! |

Tried to put a coffee mug over a corn spider the other night.... Its legs spanned the rim...
On the other hand... They pretty much watch what I do on telly... And they dont nick the remote...;-);-) |

Im terified of spiders, my mum used to be and they say you learn to be frightened of them if your parents are. I have nightmares about them. There was a huge one in a waste paper bin in my bedroom and one on top of the stairs in the night, i got my hubby to catch it for me. I have got one of those spider catchers which is good. Its got a long handle and like bristles you open the bristles then put it on the spider then close it. It squashes the spider but doesnt hurt it, then you open the bristles with the handle then let it go outside. |

ive become brave over the last few years and am now the spider catcher in our house, i realised i was passing my panic and fear onto the kids... so it was time to "man up" lol
(really big ones still bring me out in a bit of a sweat tho)! |

There was a bit on the radio about this yesterday, apparently because of the damp Summer and early Autumn there's a lot more of 'em about, and they're bigger, than most years.
The ones we keep seeing in the house are mostly males on the look out for a mate, the expert said, so maybe we should have a bit more sympathy for the poor buggers - at least they're not putting up moaning threads in the forums here: "I've been in this bath for nearly an hour now and no meets - what am I doing wrong? I'm well endowed (eight legs!) and genuine. Can't accommodate at present because I've got 400 kids at home.." |

Dave, now that has made me smile. My house is full of single males.
They've also harvested the field behind my house and started ploughing it up......... that means more than spiders will be invading my house.

I don't mind mice but they are a bugger to get rid of, they come over from the field into my cellar and up into the kitchen..... not a nice thing to be greeted with one watching you from the carousel in the cupboard!
One ate into a packet of cornflower last year, it left a trail of tiny white footprints all over the kitchen! |
