"OK how to ripen a greenhouse full of green tomatoes, please.
No bl**dy sun "
Cherry ones might go to an orangey green but a bit late now. Want a green chutney recipe? |

"Try the old banana trick - lots of near rotting bananas give off a gas that ripens tomatoes.
Would it work better picking them and putting them in a box with the nanas"
No dont do that any contact will cause the tomatoes to rot, but you can pick them and put the bananas nearby |

Ripe Bananas give off some chemical which helps ripen Tomatoes. Use the trick a few years ago and it worked but I only did it with a box of Tomatoes not a whole Greenhouse.
Good luck. |

I've got loads of green tomatoes, still haven't picked them, usually i pick them and let them ripen inside the back window, near the heater, will try the banana trick though.
Still got loads of pears off the tree...who wants one?

I heard on the radio about others having the same issue to green tomatoes, and one lady phoned in to suggest wrapping them up in newpapers once they have been dried and leave to ripen in a cupboard somewhere.
How good/true that is, I have no way to know.

"Try the old banana trick - lots of near rotting bananas give off a gas that ripens tomatoes.
Works great with roses"
Oh feck, was just wondering what to do with that purple twisty one with the hazelnut inside.
Knew I should have asked for a ripe tomato instead. |
