here is something I find mildly amusing, in the forum I can have good banter with everyone, but if I wanted to reply privately even if its just to say " Lol that was really funny thanks for the comments"... I may not be allowed as the person with whom I have been having a laugh with is blocked due to my gender, fair play, but surely there must be some discretion on this? |

Yep. Some people use filters, I do t get why really, it stops most of the socialising,
but some people are here to make contacts for sex only, why the hell would they want to talk with someone they have no plans in meeting. . (That's what I was told once) |

I can kinda see the logic. The forum is a social thing, its public and inclusive. Messages are more intimate.
Its kinda like being in a pub and asking for someone's number. |

I'm not meeting at all but I still have message filters on to avoid too many messages. So there's a flaw in that logic. |

I was giving just the one example I was told why they blocked men. Everyone filters for their own reasons, some I get, some baffle me, but, it's everyone's choice. |

Spot on. On occasion i will pm someone regarding a post. Usually if I want them to hear what i say and not the rest of the site. On occasion i cant due to filters. I accept that. |

Why can't you say that in public?

I meant why can't you say "lol that was really funny etc" in public?
If you have something to say that isn't suitable for public consumption maybe the people who have your gender blocked don't want to read it either.
I don't mean any of this harshly but blocks and filters are site tools that we can use to make the site work the way we want and to allow us to interact with who we want. |

I love chatting to other forum users. Just unfortunate I then get bombarded with messages from others when filters are turned off.
Didn't use to have filters, but the messages where getting more cringey so needed a break. |

I’m happy talking publicly in the forum but that’s not an invite to PM me. If it’s on the subject I’m discussing publicly, that’s where I want the conversation to be, I find it invasive and a tad self-centred for someone to take it to PM where it’s back/forth and not in the flow of the public discussion — like someone cornering you at a party and monopolising you. They may be having a great time. I’m probably not.
