Does your voice fit how you look?
I was chatting on POF to a very good looking guy.
I was dubious that he was the man in the pics and then when I spoke to him on the phone I thought his voice didn’t fit how he looked in his pics.
I think he sounded older so I’ve now blocked him.
Are people surprised by how you sound? |

I don't know if my voice fits me. Other people can answer that. I used to speak to somebody on the phone regularly at an old workplace. When I eventually met him he was a white geeky chap, I thought he was black. |

Preconceptions are such a great way of judging anyone...but well they are the norm on fab..
How can you ever second guess how someone's voice matches their pictures...
Still if an over dependence on the block button is triggered by such a rational approach to the world it's no wonder that there are so many whiny thread on here mainly from guys who wonder why they get blocked deleted refused meets etc.
Let's not let rational get in the way of irrational preconceptions based on imaginary delusions with no real world connection.
Or maybe I just accept people as I find them...rather than as I imagine them ...
Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong |

I found my voice clip from the voice threads.
Someone from the Brum Social may be able to say if it sounds how I look
To me it sounds confused, I’m a Brummy, but have lived in Berkshire for 20+ years so I’ve no idea what going on |

I think you may have missed the fundemantal point. It matters not where the guy was from ...or how good looking you may perceive them to be...
Making judgments on linking voices and pictures does smack of an interesting approach to determining someone a value of otherwise...
Perhaps the voice of a former Man Utd player and his pictures may be a relevant case study... |

True, but I go with my gut instinct too. The fact that when I asked him to show me how he looked right now on video chat and he didn’t want to makes me think I was right to disbelieve that he was the man in the pics.

"I’m easily put off someone by how they sound.
Sometimes even more than by how they look "
I am totally the same. When I was on a dating site, the phone call and hearing the voice determined if it was going to progress. For me, sounds are a major part of my stimulation, so if I don't enjoy listening to the person speaking for a quick phone call, I can't take it beyond that. I know you mentioned that it is about matching pics and voice but I am more interested in them saying hello to gauge if I can continue.
For me, Most voices fall in to the ok range, some into the no way range and a few into oh my sweet lord I want to crawl down the phone to them range

I'm always being told " you are really posh, aren't you?"
I was brought up in a council house, in abject poverty. About as far away from posh, as its possible to be
Most people get me completely wrong
Usually because of their preconceived ideas. |

Voices are really important to me. I insist on a phone call before I agree to meet just because I think you get a better feel for someone that way.
In often shocked by how people sound as I find it hard to imagine accents. I forget not everyone sounds like me!
As for how I sound I guess you'll need to ask someone who has spoken to me! I think I sound awful! |

The sound of a voice is important and it can be quite the opposite of how you look. I've seen women who look amazing then have an awful voice.
It's the whole package, though and it's important not to be judgemental.

We both have Brummieish accents. We’ve been described as having soft, neutral accents with a hint of Brummie which we get away with as we’re both apparently well spoken. And no, people often say they’re didn’t expect me to sound as I do, they expected a more black sounding voice, whatever that means. |

I can't say that anyone has ever expressed surprise at how my voice sounds so maybe I do have a voice that matches my physical appearance.
I like to hear someone before I meet them. I really couldn't get sexy with someone with an awful sounding voice... unless I gagged them first... so I need to know what to pack in my bag of goodies |

In a recording of my voice reciting something I sound fairly posh. In general conversation though I am much more shrill and west country. Sounding a bit like a farmer (apparently) yet also having a brain has been known to flummox people in the past. As to whether or not my voice suits me that's a question for others. |

My accent has faded, pops right back when I visit home though.
A lot of folks are surprised when they first hear me, as they're expecting a southern accent.
I do try to prewarn folks now I talk a bit dodgy! |

I've never felt like my voice fits my face. But I think that's more a desire to have a different voice than not having a fitting voice.
But I don't know, really. No one has ever told me one way or another. Plenty of people from the forums have told me they thought I'd be taller when we meet at socials, though. I don't know what to make of that... |

I've been told my voice is 'very nice'
I can't hear it myself obviously but I did have a lady ring me from patrol everyday for a year so she could hear me... Then we met and well... You know.
Others from up north here who hear me just say I'm a cockney, even though I'm from the south coast.
I have a few accents I like though... |

Yes people are often surprised by how I sound. When I chat for the first time on the phone I think they must be expecting a Sally Webster soundalike - as they tell me I sound far ‘less northern ‘ than they expected and my phone voice is slightly posher than my ‘normal’ voice (years of working in marketing). I also don’t like my voice when I hear it - though others seem to like it!
Most guys spend far longer looking at my arse than my face anyway - maybe they’re waiting to see if that can talk too?

"Does your voice fit how you look?
I was chatting on POF to a very good looking guy.
I was dubious that he was the man in the pics and then when I spoke to him on the phone I thought his voice didn’t fit how he looked in his pics.
I think he sounded older so I’ve now blocked him.
Are people surprised by how you sound?
Yes people are often surprised by how I sound. When I chat for the first time on the phone I think they must be expecting a Sally Webster soundalike - as they tell me I sound far ‘less northern ‘ than they expected and my phone voice is slightly posher than my ‘normal’ voice (years of working in marketing). I also don’t like my voice when I hear it - though others seem to like it!
Most guys spend far longer looking at my arse than my face anyway - maybe they’re waiting to see if that can talk too?
Or maybe they just think you're talking out of your arse?
To a Southerner's ears, you've got a strong northern accent and speech pattern - but you're right, not a bit like Sally Webster.
Like I said - worked in marketing - I was paid to talk out of my arse!
Didn’t realise you and I had met/chatted though? "
You're very out there and recognisable. I'm not |

"I was chatting a while ago to a guy who did voiceovers for a job.
He sent me a link to some of the jobs he’d done.
He had a deep, very nice voice, just right for doing adverts on tv
