Well I spent the evening at a gig last night. I have to say I found the whole thing quite an amazing experience. Don't get me wrong, I'm well used to going to gigs, but this one was quite special.

The band were incredibly hot, and seeing the guys on the brass instruments and drums may well of caused a stirring

So do we have any musicians on fab? Just for research purposes clearly

Last night I went to see Emeli Sande, not my usual sort of gig, although I love all music. But she had a huge band on stage with her with some great choreography. They were very very hot

I’d recommend her learning the theory as early as possible. My eldest plays guitar, uke, keyboard and sings like Amy winehouse but her lack of theory knowledge really damaged her gcse

Yeah so do we. We have plenty of contacts so getting gigs won’t be too much trouble - the key is keeping making time for it amongst everything else in our lives.

I think it’s the enjoyment and camaraderie that is providing the motivation and momentum at the moment. First time I’ve been in a band where we can comfortably do three part harmonies and it sounds mega. Plus having versatile musicians to play with means I don’t feel under the same pressure as I did when I was younger. I like not feeling I have to lead all the time. It’s a nice ‘dance’ between us as we all take the lead some of the time and follow willingly the rest.

Guitar-rhythm and lead. Used to play in a punk band.

I usually just play for my own amusement but my youngest plays drums and my eldest plays bass. I jam with them when we can find the time and the neighbours are out. We like to play stuff like Green day, White stripes, Rage against the machine, Nirvana, stuff like that.

Looking at the moment for others to jam with.

Wow, that is some accolade. I love all music, but jazz and house are two of my favourites, you must've known

Did you hear about the drummer who's timing was that bad, he threw himself behind a train?

I completely agree but I like the strumming minus the guitar..... haha

I did learn to play clarinet at school - does that count for anything!?

I'm sure those skills still come in handy from time to time. You never lose it "

Listen to the stage manager and get on stage when they tell you to. No one has time for your rock star bullshit. None of the techs backstage care if you’re David Bowie or the milkman. When you act like a jerk, they are completely unimpressed with the infantile display that you might think comes with your dubious status. They were there hours before you building the stage, and they will be there hours after you leave tearing it down. They should get your salary, and you should get theirs.

"Well I spent the evening at a gig last night.

Just for research purposes clearly "

Guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, cello, and learning banjo (which is just a five stringed guitar really - so easy for a rolling stones fan)

Well hello mr Hendrix lol. Are you in a band? What sort of music do you play?"

I'm not in a band at the moment but hoping to form one in the near future, i started playing guitar back in 1980 while i was a roadie for a local rock group formed by some of my college friends. I play rock, blues, folk, jazz and flamenco, i just love music especially rock, prog rock, blues, blues rock, psychedelia, big on reggae too. What about you.
