"He's alright. Can't get passed him being an x factorite. So I am probably unfairly biased against him.
Oh! It probably helps then if you never watch the X factor "
He's marketed as such though. Winds me up. He has great tatts on a side note. |

"He made mistakes. He's been very open about mental health issues. He wrote a nice song and sang it for a girl who had been badly bullied, self harmed and attempted suicide.
Why can't I warm to him?"

Possibly. Obviously I don't know him personally and my opinion on him is irrelevant |

"Poor man's Ed Sheeran "
On that subject; while I wouldn't say a poor man's alternative has anyone heard Tom Walker? I prefer his tone to Sheeran but undeniably similar in style:

I think you're probably right. He seems very uncomfortable being interviewed etc so we don't get am idea of the personality behind the image. |

Possibly a similar thing with Andy Murray?
Probably really nice, genuine lads that you would be proud to call Son and both successful in what they do. |

My thoughts on James Arthur are this.....
He is immensely talented. He has far more talent than anyone who has posted on this thread.
He hasn't had things easy.
He's worked hard.
Some things don't go his way but he picks himself up and does what he believes in and is passionate about.
He seems to be easy to knock. Mostly by those without a single chance of sharing their emotion through writing music and lyrics and performing in massive arenas but also due to his fragility from time to time: e.g. mental illness, not so stable background.
This is just my opinion but he is accused of being manufactured because of the avenue he had to take to get a break.
Also my opinion is that when he matures further ( as he has done greatly over the past few years ) he will stabilise and be more of who he really is.
He has a great future in the music industry whether he performs or not. I can see him doing something to help those who find it difficult to get a foot on the ladder without prostituing themselve to syco or sony.....
He appears really genuine and without too much ego.
I'd give him a thumbs up.
Like many talented people he will , with time, metamorphose and grow.

I've never read or heard an interview with say, Leonard Cohen but then i don't need to because his personality comes across in his songs. I could say the same thing about many other singer/songwriters so maybe the failure is in James Arthur's material? ( i don't know a note of it btw so not really commenting on the quality of it or lack thereof)

Mr"
I don't know any of James Arthur's. I heard a song he'd written on the show Your Song at the weekend, it was very good and I felt from the heart. My opinion of him comes from seeing him interviewed.
As with any celebrity our opinion of them is skewed by their media image so I'm aware that what I think of any of them is probably wrong. |

I hate James Arthur songs with a passion.
Not my type of music at all. It’s too much of a sad looser depressing Whiney wingey genre for me.
I usually change the radio station as soon as I possibly can.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s obviously talented and successful. But I don’t like his music one bit.
He also cancelled LAST MINUTE at and event for Children’s Charity.... then he had the cheek to complain about not getting asked to headline for Glastonbury. Glastonbury obviously saw he was not dependable.......
Too wingey
Too whiney
Too sad
Too depressing
Too heart achey
Horrible
(That’s just my opinion..... which I am entitled to) |
