We all can take 6 months holiday and fly to India in fabswinger airline and explore each part of India.
India is like Europe, we can't say just India. South and north all differs from climate to food.
If you need to eat best balti you need to be north east, if you want to eat madras curry then u need to goto madras city which is in south.

I’ve always thought it is a challenge for solo women travellers, many friends have bad stories. But the extremes of life are what draw me to such places... |

I am indian guy & met few European flocks here in their visit to India (Goa , Mumbai and Pune) & everyone had different views and thought after their visit here and most of them Loved and enjoyed lot, so don't go by perception a must visit destination in life a personal thoughts  |

I have no idea where in India my forebears were from. I've never been and know I won't ever go as I struggle with heat and crowds.
That said, every friend who has been raves about it. Some took a year out and travelled all over with one deciding to stay. She only came back here to die and left money and instructions in her Will for others to go.

Nothing against Goa, its a lovely place but very different to other regions of India and very tourist orientated, I was there for 3 months and nowhere near long enough, an incredible place but also hard work at times. |

I have been to Kerala, which is one of the southern states so very tropical and in many ways similar to Sri Lanka, I found it to be a lovely, interesting place with lots of culture and some breathtaking scenery. Whilst it was essentially a beach holiday I did a reasonable bit of travelling around including getting up into the hill country where the climate changes from the almost oppressive heat into conditions similar to a lovely British summer. Probably the strangest thing about Kerala is that it is, or at least was at the time, a nominally dry state, as a result of state laws introduced by it's email dominated legislate apparently. That isn't to say that alcohol wasn't about, it was relatively openly sold in the hotels but at the beach bars it would be served in porcelain mugs and if you wanted to buy it elsewhere you seemed to have to talk to the tuk-tuk drivers who would take you to an off-licence which resembled those olds school sex shops in the UK where the front is all boarded up and you have to enter through a double doored lobby so no one on the street could see the contents of the shop. |

I've never been, and although just a small part of India was shown, having watched the recent Sue Perkins The Ganges programme on BBC 1, it's put me right off!!

I can't exactly remember which year I was there but it was somewhere around 10 years ago as it was a couple of years after the Boxing Day tsunami. |

I had a sponsored work attachment in Mumbai India for a month April last year.
The road system is very busy and cluttered but the biryani is tasty, the people are nice and the weather at that time is great.

Agreed, I did a month there in 2001, ten days dossing in Goa then jumped on a train inland for another two weeks, as someone else said though Goa is not India proper..

Kerala is fantastic. Contrary to some of the posts previous, it doesn't smell and i think it's much safer than London. You can also ride an elephant if you look in the right places. The roads however... |

Yes they can certainly be a bit exciting, I took a taxi down to Cape Comorin which is the southern most tip of India which was very interesting but was about 6 hour round trip. On the way back at dusk and there was an instance when we faced the whole road filled with hugh Tata lorries driving towards us 4 abreast. Thankfully the local drivers seem very adapt at emergency parking in the nearest ditch. It seems that the local approach to insurance is to have one, or often many, mini shrines on the dashboard and say a quick prayer as you set out. |
