Hello Fabland,
Halloween is almost upon us, and while I'm sceptical of all things supernatural, I do enjoy a good ghost story.
I find it especially interesting when it's told by someone, who has experienced something strange first hand.
So come on fabbers, let's hear your spooky stories!
Shit. I think I've just heard a weird noise coming from the attic (it's probably just the boiler).... |

"I begin tucking him into bed and he tells me, “Daddy check for monsters under my bed.” I look underneath for his amusement and see him, another him, under the bed, staring back at me quivering and whispering, “Daddy there’s somebody on my bed.”"

That put the willies right up me |

Fountains Abbey 1995. Walking round with two people. Two of us saw exactly the same thing at the same time. The third person thought we were barking - so we both told him (separately) what we had just seen - with no prior discussion between ourselves. Our stories matched.
Abbeydale picture house in Sheffield. God awful place, never been so terrified
My home - an elderly couple. He's called Cyril but I don't know what she's called
I don't drink
I don't do drugs
I was fully conscious when I have had ALL my experiences. My daughter sees the couple in our home AND the lady at my mum's (where I am now - and she usually appears in my bedroom). Mum's house is a bizarre place. Some freaky things happen here |

Do I believe in ghosts? Yes
Do they scare me? No
I woke at 02.45, a shadow from my nightlamp on the wall, a bent over figure wearing a flat cap.
I heard his voice "I'll always look after you"
I came home from school the next day to be told my grandad had died during the night in hospital.
I found out later, the nurse doing her rounds had spoken to him at 02.30 and when she camr back at 03.00 he was dead.

I live in a cottage that was built in 1809 and it is haunted. Sometimes I hear footsteps in the kitchen or upstairs. Small things like keys or coins fall to the floor without reason. A few times I have heard tapping on my old fire place. Whoever it or they are do not unsettle me. My grandson stays over sometimes if my daughter goes out for a night and before he stays I always speak to them and ask them not to worry the lad. They must listen as when he's here nothing happens. They do not bother me and I do not bother them. |

I was pregnant with my 2nd child when my Dad died.
A couple of months after my son was born I woke up to Dad standing at the bottom of his cot. He was saying to me "show me my lad then, i'll alway be near him you know" he was so vivid, looked real. I told him I loved him and he said "I know princess, i'm never far away"
A few months later when Luke was in his own room I'd wake to giggling, 7 am every morning gigging, went on for months, one morning I went in and Luke was belly laughing, then "stop it Grandad"
Later I showed him a picture, he burst out laughing saying "aw silly Grandad, he tickles"
When he was two a friend died. Had killed himself. This guy adored Luke, he'd been with me all through pregnancy and was one of the first to hold him.
On the day of the funeral I was getting ready. Luke was playing. Could hear chattering, walk into the kitchen and Luke says "Jimmy's here, Mommy. He wants a cup of tea" I did not know what to say, what could I do but make his tea lol. |

Wow. Some unsettling stories, but also some very moving ones.
As I said, I'm a sceptic, but who am I to criticise other people's beliefs?
Thank you all for sharing |

When I was born we had a border collie, she more of a big sister than a pet. In my late teens I heard what I thought was the family dog come into the house, up the stairs and I saw her walk across the bathroom doorway. I heard her flop down on the bedroom floor, I went in to stroke her only to find an empty room. I ran outside to find our dog sleeping in her kennel, she wasn't to pleased to be woken up by me either. |

"Seen a few ghosts, they do exist.
1 on a Boeing 757,
1 in my old home,
1 in my previous flat,
1 in white man's dam."
You saw one on a plane? Please tell us more |

Ok this happened to me in January 1999. I used to work in Evesham on the briars close industrial estate. Once a week I would pop into the local for a bite to eat and a pint ??
The Oddfellow Arms.
After a few years you get to know the locals and say hi or something, anyway two of the locals were an elderly couple he was only able to walk with the aid of a walking frame, I was told he was an ex councillor. His wife bought him to the pub most lunchtimes so he could enjoy the company of people he knew.
So first week back to work after Christmas, I got a little bored, so decided to get a sandwich and a pint ??
As I entered the pub the old councillor was sat on his own, he raised his glass to say hi, o can remember he was on his own but sat there all the time I was on my lunch.
Later in the afternoon I spoke to Dave our warehouse manager, mentioned it was strange seeing the councillor on his own lunch time.
Dave looked at me with a kind of quizzical look, and said “you couldn’t have, he died over Christmas!”
It wasn’t a scared moment, but surreal
I will never forget what happened and to this day people don’t really believe it!
But it’s very true

I've been lucky enough to have a few experiences but not lucky enough yet to witness a figure as it would be.
I didn't need convincing and while I've kept an open mind these different events were simply a reminder that somehow, spirits or an energy of some sort do exist amongst us.
Don't ask me how that works, it sounds utter nonsense.
When your dead, your dead. Right? |
