The new over 18 ages checks are due to come into force in April to view online porn sites.

whats a pre-paid credit card?
Never heard of a card company giving you a new card account with no Credit on it!
I've heard of Visa Electron that can have credit added but those are usually for under 18s

Let's watch credit card fraud go through the roof, as people can no longer distinguish between proving they're old enough to access genuine adult sites, and the scam sites that say they just want a card number for age confirmation, but then start debiting large amounts from it.
If you've ever been on certain apps, you've had the bots. "I'm naked and masturbating live on cam. I just need you to prove you're over 18 to watch. Enter your credit card details here. You won't be billed." Yeah, right.
So if they do implement this, there need to be a number of trusted age verification services, and they need to be the only ones with access to your card information, merely giving the green light for access to the actual adult sites. But even then, there are privacy concerns. What worries me is LGBT, contact sites and similar being rated 'adult' and closeted individuals at the beginning of their journeys being too scared to go near them without the benefit of total anonymity. It's going to hold a lot of people back.
I wouldn't be surprised if Fab turns into a ghost town, once members lose their complete anonymity. On the flip side, it would give admin the tools they need to deal with time wasters and serial UNLOSers, if everyone can be tied to a credit card ID. |
