Reckon the wheels will fall off the chariot in the Group stages.

Sadly can't see Scotland going much further. The Southern hemisphere sides have just too much strength in depth.

The home nation have to be favourites.

As much as I would love England to get a second gold star, I'm not that confident it will happen.

Wise money has to go on the all blacks or wallabies, the springboks don't strike me as having a gold star performance in them this year either.

Who ever wins its going to be a great world cup, just due to the fact it's RUGBY

that ref was awful today... the place kicking was awful as well...

I was impressed by argentina's play for the 1st 60 minute.. and there front 8 especially... but like against wales they just fell off a cliff in the last 15-20 minutes...

i think the only players that come out of this with any positive were 3 of the subs... ben youngs, dylan hartley and matt stevens...

i know i am biased but the ref was shocking, seemed to have Englands cards marked from the off. how the aregentinian didnt go off after flipping one of our players in the air i dont know

Johnny kicked poorly but i wonder if there is something in the air at that stadium ad the argentine kicker had a shocker to!!!

also - how shocking were those shirts??? numbers peeling off all over the place hope we havent jinxed ourselves wearing black on the all blacks territory

England need Moody back....hes a class flanker...

England were shockingly lethargic....lost count of the times they were muscled of the ball...thats gotta improve, and they didn`t seem to have a game plan.....reactive instead of a purposeful drive thru the forwards or backs..

That said..the Pumas were always a difficult opener..they`re a tricky side..always admire em...they don`t get much test match rugby do they !..always gona run out of steam in the final quarter I felt..

Didn`t England look different going forward with quick ball...some dynamism...

Johno will be seething with the ref and Englands indiscipline..

Yeah...it was a good call from the management....the subs brought some drive and spark to the match..the whole belief of the England side changed and with it the momentum of the match....the Pumas were bouyed with the adranelin of a victory, once England went up..the Pumas lack of match hardness showed..

Just shows the importance of a good squad eh ....

I have always hated that ref, he is a bit whistle happy and very fussy and tends to see things only going one way.... since the lions had the misfortune of having him ref 2 on the last tour of SA....

and i actually wondered about the kicking thing in the stadium, being indoors with a glass roof, i wonder if it was something to do with air atmosphere??

the ball was all too slow and as much as i like delon armitage, he is not quick enough to play wing (play him at full back and put foden on the wing and if all the ball was going his way rather than chris ashton's )

Yep...the ref of Englands game is a thorn in their side....whistle happy fer sure and inconsistent...

Only wish the Beeb were showing the Cup.... ruddy ITV just ain`t got the style to host..the commentary and match analysis was inept and had all the verasity of a punch d*unk boxer...

Give me the Beeb everytime, but there tis I guess..no use crying over spilt wine..

why blame the ref?

yes refereeing decisions r frustrating at times during a match.

Bus as a coach at the end i always look at the number of mistakes my team made and number referree made and funnily referree always wins hands down.

i wasnt the referree who was going off his feet at rucks (something England been guilty of for years unpunished enough in 6 Nations.

didnt the ref do England big favour keeping Lewes on the pitch after his slightly late and illegal tackle (No arms used) that put Conteponi on the sidelines and then 2 mins later as argentinian No 8 lay already in touch slides in and connects his head with his knees. i would say referee favoured England as much as favoured Argentina.

As for Scotland unfortunatly i couldnt even blame/shout at the ref during the match lol they were awful after first 20 Mins

I think England were very lucky to get the win today, but they Did earn it (just).

They seem a bit rudderless on the pitch though, like the Captain wasn't giving them the direction and the lack of quick ball towards the end of the first half played right into the Puma's hands.

That coupled with the lack of discipline and real experience really showed today, and Johnny- WTF!

Ah well, that should be the hardest game of the group- and Scotland should have the harder draw if we stay top of the group, if I'm not mistaken?

"why blame the ref?

yes refereeing decisions r frustrating at times during a match.

As for Scotland unfortunatly i couldnt even blame/shout at the ref during the match lol they were awful after first 20 Mins"

he also did the Argentinians a lot more favours after high tackles, dangerous spear tackles etc all of which went unpunished.

You are always going to tink that the ref has it in for your team i guess but there were several inconsistencies in that game
