What's the oldest thing you own?
I have a teddy bear I was given by my grandparents when I was born.
Her nose is worn and one eye sticks out since a wrestling incident with my brother but I cant imagine not having her. |

A very old China teddy bear money box.
It's been glued back together more times than I can remember. But its the most sentimental and oldest possession I have. Given to me from my father. |

Most of the time he lives in a fireproof box with a few other keepsakes. But I do get him out and hold him when upset or stressed.

Yep I've got my Grandad's medals too and I too will eventually get round to having them framed.
Aside from that there's an old chair that my great Uncle used to sit in that I think is 19th Century.
Oldest thing I've owned from new though is my teddy bear that was given to me the day I was born so is 52 years young!! |

That's a lovely heartwarming story, but for some reason I'm reminded of "Butch's" watch in Pulp Fiction. |

I've got a Times Atlas which is more than a hund_ed years old. It's not in very good condition but the maps are fascinating to pore over from an historical perspective. I used to have an oblong fragment of ancient Egyptian pottery which was thousands of years old and had been mounted in gold as a pendant but I sold that for a pittance when I was a single mum and needed the money. |

The oldest thing that is specifically mine is a bear called John Ted.
The oldest family heirloom are our double gates. Constructed by my great-grandfather from the remains of my great-great-grandfathers fishing boat. |

I've got a few old possessions which to most people would be worth very little but to me are absolutely priceless.
One is a soft toy panda that I was given as a baby. It has a handmade pink dress that my gran made for it. It is pretty threadbare and has been stitched up a few times where the seams split.
Another is a ring that used to be my gran's. She got married in the 1930's and her original wedding ring was really thin. My grandad wanted her to have a "proper" wedding ring when they could afford one. Mum has the original wedding ring and the newer one was given to me when she died and I never take it off.
Lastly I have a ring that belonged to my gran's sister. It's from the 1920's and is silver set with marcasite. It was given to me because I was the only person in the family who it would fit and could carry it off because it is quite chunky. I wear it occasionally when I'm going out. |
