Should the sale of over the counter fireworks be stopped?

On the good side they are a cheapish way for a family to enjoy the occassion.

On the bad side they frighten pets to death, are dangerous. let off at completely random times by idiots disturbing sleep for younger kids.

Wouldn’t it be more sensible to only allow arranged displays and remove this yearly nuisance from shops and make it an offence to buy or use them.

Discuss!

Yes ban them.

Go to an organised event instead. The money often goes to good causes. The Round Table springs to mind.

I no longer throw them at mates or old people, everyone has to grow up sometime. I would of answered 'no' years ago

Ban ban ban.

I also think people should have to inform their neighbours if they are planning a garden display, to allow us pet owners to put plans into action regarding toiletting, medication if need be.

A few years ago I would have said hey just have fun with fire works. Then a rather nasty accident changed my mind . I was lucky not to loose my hand so

Leave explosives to the experts and fire works be alcohol will just wind you up in A and E and some pain well lots of pain

£5 a ticket a fair approx price? Adults often a bit more pricey than kids.

Call it £20 for Mum and Dad and two shits.

What does £20 get you in Asda (eg)?

Half a dozen rockets?

Do the burgers, hot dogs and sparklers at home then go to the display.

I have two locals, one where they shake a bucket at you and one you pay on the gate. Both last for about 25-30 minutes.

It's a bargain really

swingers clubs

All for banning home use.

Far to many fall into immature hands and having explosives in your home is surely a bad idea anyway.

We wrap up and take our kids up a local hill and watch the fireworks for miles around.

Best thing about the displays, they are in the sky - don't have to pay for front row seats!

You wanna come down yur butt cheap as fuck mun.

I know where your coming from but I'd feed them first at home and try and find a 'round table' as they 'can' be happy with just a donation.

Failing that load up youtube and get them to watch that and spend the saved cash on a nice fat juicy steak and 4 stellas. Then if the family kick off you can kick them a bit

they don't particularly bother me at any time, and the dogs are gun dogs, they've been accustomed to loud bangs since being puppies, the sound of fireworks just makes them sit up and want to start fetching stuff, that's as bad as it gets here really

Yes ban over the counter sales

Find a local large event and go there, you get so much more for your money. Even better if it’s choreographed to music

Yes, they've been letting them off for a few days here. It's not just animals that have a problem with them, I have 2 autistic sons and this time of year can be very disturbing, the bangs at silly times of the day and night cause then to become quite distressed at times, and can disturb their sleep. Always glad when they've all done x

You can all come to mine stand in my garden which backs onto the park where the firework display is held. Free show and I'll even chuck in some sparklers so you can write your name in the air.

As long as I can entertain myself with sparklers, I’m happy.
