A couple of years ago I found bank notes totalling £50 blowing down the road very early one morning.
I posted on a local community noticeboard on Facebook that I had found 'something valuable ' and I said where and how to contact me.
Reported it to the local community safety officers too.
Nobody came forward.
Anyone else had a lucky find? |

"I found love.
Oh how lovely
Nice to see someone who isnt as materialistic as me "
Hah. I was just getting in with the cliched response before anyone else did.
I think the best thing I ever found was a large fossilised dragonfly. It was huge (at least in memory, I was but a wee nipper when I found it) and perfectly preserved inside some slate.
We carefully wrapped it and put it in the boot for the long journey home.
Unfortunately the bouncing of the car shattered it into a mazillion pieces by the time we arrived home. |

But unfortunately 2 years ago he didn't make it through the winter! .... Oh as I was typing that I thought ooh actually the best thing I ever found was my best friend . Known her 10 years and we are soulmates, ! Hopefully she will make it through the winter for many many years to come as she is priceless! |

My hobby is metal detecting and I regularly search farmland with the farmers permission if course. Over tge past 20 years ive found many lovely things from the bronze age to modern but getting back to the original question I guess my best find(s) were a hoard of 30 gold Celtic coins that were over 2000 years old. All recorded and photographed by the British Museum |

I found a seahorse washed up on a beach in Miami. I rescued it and placed it back in the water. It stayed for a few seconds then swam away. It was a touching moment.
I also found an after dinner wrapped chocolate in the bottom of my bag yesterday. That was yummy |

The British Museum didnt want to keep them and the landowner is a very rich farmer who owns a house like a castle and 5000 acres of land so is very wealthy and he said he didnt want his half share so I was lucky enough to keep them and they are now pride of place in my glass display cabinet |

(I wear hi-viz clothing at work)
But basically a woman placed £40 in my hand which I seen her pick up, she said “hi mr, i found money lying there” I quickly said to her “ok, I’ll take this to lost-property” (aye right, put it straight in my pocket). |

On the way back from Manchester I picked up the wrong case and took it home. In it was a bag with £3000 in it |

I found a brown envelope with money it, round £120. Handed in to police station and then a month later got a call to ask if they could pass my details into the person who lost it. My thoughts were of a rewards so I kindly agreed. The next day, had a parcel at my front door in the shape of a bottle. I read the note which read "Thanx 4 findin ma giro pal", opened the parcel and was a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20. I was delighted, as got to relive my youth! :D |

Seriously....I found a lady, rather worse for wear, in the street outside my flat a few years back. Couldn't tell me clearly where she lived, or was going to.... as I would have put her in a taxi.
Took her in, put her to bed in spare room and took her home the next morning. Spent the next two years seeing her fairly regularly....she was ok with my swinging, even came to Xtasia with me once, but couldn't get her into the lifestyle. Went our separate ways a couple of years back.
Strange, but genuinely true! |

Doing Aid work in Africa we were being watched by a couple of hundred impoverished villages the hole we were drilling was not producing a significant supply of safe water .......
Then all of a sudden it started to produce more than their needs ..... years later it still transforming their lives |

We found a hamster, took it home, made it feel like part of the family...the dog and cat obviously weren't happy as the next morning we found the cage on the floor and half a hamster under the sofa...
The end.

After my Dad passed away, I was going through his paperwork for the solicitor and found his wedding ring. He had lost it many years earlier, in his 30s and they considered it irreplaceable. My Mum was overwhelmed and now wears it on a necklace. |

Found 35 grand in used notes in a tatty bag in a phone box.
Took it to police and handed it in.
Luckily it belonged to one of the officers on that shift...who gave an accurate description of the bag and the exact amount in it.

Found a massive haul of stolen items when I was kid in an old abandoned house. My twat of a friend told his mother and she phoned the police. I thought I was the coolest kid on the block walking to school with three pocket watches and my own personal coffee maker! The police never even said thanks! |
