"Apparently it's all down to a connected chain of events. Hurricane Ophelia is the main cause. In its journey it's picked up large amounts of dust from the Sahara. It's also brought across smoke and ash from the Forrest fires in Portugal and Spain. All this has led to the sights we've all witnessed today. It was eerie in Leeds this morning though. We had fog, and when that lifted we were presented with orange/red skies. Possibly a once in a lifetime experience. As an aside, it's exactly 30 years ago today that Michael Fish told everyone there wasn't a hurricane on the way!" Uh-oh! | |||
