The English language is a funny old thing, like how things are spelt and sounded out, take the word “queue”, it’s spelt with 5 letters but you only pronounce the first one and it’s followed by 4 silent letters?

Can anyone else come up with some oddities?

The English Language has around 500,000 words in it, whilst French has around 250,000 and German has only about 100,000!!!

English has borrowed a lot of words from other languages, like Greek (I think) in the examples above. Trouble is, certain consonant combinations which can be easily and naturally pronounced in some languages are almost impossible to pronounce by native English speakers ... so they end up trying to pronounce such words the best they can ... which sometimes means dropping a letter in speech but bizarrely, retaining it in the written word.

Not mine, but someone did once point out that K seems to fancy N, but hasn't got the guts to speak to her.

Every time K and N appear nest to each other, K shuts the fuck up.
