Having organised two socials now and taking advice from others, they have gone well and the second better than the first.
I don’t want to say single guys can’t come because they can get a hard time and there are genuine ones out there who do turn up and are great fun respectful and hot.
However... my issue, in the lead up to the events I am inundated with messages asking to come, I add them to the list. I message them asking to confirm and if they don’t i’ll take that as they’re not interested. Loads confirm but clearly lots never intending to come OR to secretly come to the venue and have a nose around. (Free public venue) struggling for appropriate venues that don’t cost a fortune!
Im reluctant to organise another one because of this as it is hardwork sorting the genuine guys out.
Any advice gratefully received? |

Hi. I also find this hard work when organising socials and always have more single guys wanting to come than single ladies. As we try to keep numbers equal I will 9ften have to say we're full for single guys and start a reserve list. Location is not sent out until 2 days before and if someone hasn't confirmed they don't receive the location message. I think you have to expect at least 10% of people will be no shows so we go over slightly on our numbers knowing that we won't get a full turn out.
It's hard work organising these things so I wish you luck if you do decide to do another |

Aww thank you. I haven’t done the gender balance thing maybe that’s the trick but how do you guarantee those confirmed actually do turn up not flake out when a better offer comes along? |

I think lots of contact before hand. We do the Lounge socials and have copious threads going on the run up to the social. Plus all people are messaged twice to confirm but you still get people dropping out last minute....I am usually able to fill these from the reserve list...and you will always get no shows. |

I once organised a social, again, loads of interested parties, specially the guys, in the end, I cancelled it cause hardly anyone was confirming or dropping out, too much stress really.
There’s a thread for a liverpool social, which is laughable cause everyone is “interested” in going but no one wants to organise it |

Yeah it’s the same here lol. Don’t get me wrong the two have been great and for me personally (Betsy) I’m just trying to find that one FWB guy so anything else is a bonus and the feedback has been great but yeah it’s the stress of people dropping out and messing us around |

because when the find out "social" is short for socialising... and not some sort of codeword for "orgy".... a lot wont go!! its like they begruge actually getting to know people....
but as a single guys i love them because i can tell you the DO help you stand out as you are more than just a profile!!! |

Oops sorry I'm one of them. ish.
While this time it was work getting in the way, i still have *the fear* of being a single guy at a social. So have every intention ... until I chicken !
My guess would be quality is a function if
*club verifications
* verifications as a whole
* location.
My suggestion maybe would be to only invite couples and gals. But let them have one or two spare invites they can give out. At least that way the guys will know someone. And have a quality filter on them.... |

I have organised a couple of socials , they are hard work, my hat goes off to the people who do it regularly. As others have said, it is a way for single guys to stand out from the crowd.
But most of all it is a way to meet people |

Miss red is bang on. Give the location as close to the date as possible. The chancers will have forgotten then hopefully. Also keep a list of no shows. Operate a strike policy for future events. |

I've never let anyone down for an arranged meet in the 5 years I've been using this site, although I've 'enjoyed' my fair share of last minute letdowns and no-shows along the way. The last organised group social I popped along to, I received a message of warning from a couple in here that the event had been blown open on Facebook, by the children of one of the couples attending, so I didn't join the group in the venue, just sat back with a couple of beers, and enjoyed the sight of all the staff tittering among themselves |

My advice is to talk to romeojuliet1 who have been running the york socials for a good 7 years and I think they have a good balance |

I go to Miss.Reds for one obvious reason but I can see if I didn't have that extra motivation to attend then I may not make the effort even if initially tempted to. |
