i have a couple of male friends but best friends?
humm dont know
i mean best friends as a rule do a lot together, go shopping, out for drinks etc
Now if your just mates im assuming you both at some point will have partners, im sure a lot of guys would object to his partner going out with another guy? and visa versa
so tho im sure a man and a woman can easily be friends without anything sexual, theres far more to think about than just them two and other peoples feelings have to be taken into account |

The majority of my best friends (Five out of the seven I class as my best friends) don't go shopping or drinking with me because they are lifelong friends that I don't see on a regular basis as there are mega miles between us.
Three are best friends I studied with 20 years ago, One still lives in the London area, one in the USA and one in New Zealand....but they are still my best friends due to us being extremely close for Two decades and what we have goes a lot deeper than just going around Debenhams together.
I only shop and regularly socialise with Two of my best friends.

Actually, most of my best friends are female but there are a several male friends. All of them I have known for many years, it is a criterium for "best friends" that I have known them for more than a few months. I dont need to have regular contact with them, esprcially when they live in other countries or continents. The main thing is, when we reconnect there is a connection as if we had never been apart. |

Completely agree with you there....these are the sort of friends that would travel halfway around the world for my funeral....and I for theirs.
When I do occasionally catch up with them. all be it not that often, I get a warm fuzzy feeling that I don't get with other casual friends. |

That's because you're the same tribe |

You will need to explain that... |

When you go through life you enter certain circles of friends. Secondary school, university, workplaces, volunteer groups etc. Also applies to intensive internet users participating on forums. Those are your 'tribes' |

i think yes "
Yes, my closest friend is female and we've never considered taking things further.
To be honest most of my friends are female, I put this down to being more comfortable around women due to me being the first male born in my family for over 30 year, so predominately my influences and closest from being a child were female. |

My best friend is male, I've known him since first year of infant school, we did a bit of sexual exploring together when we were 14/15, but have remained best friends ever since.
We don't see each other as often as we'd like, living at opposite ends of the country, but when we do meet up, its like we've never been apart.

Of course, but it depends on what it's based on...
Relationship
F/Buddies
Friends with Benefits
Club members
Workplace
Neighbours
and of course the biggie, are they both happy to be friends and neither want more...
I always get the urge to want to sleep with them |

They can only be friends, if there is no sexual attraction, otherwise it will interfere with a true friendship. This is why many more women say 'yes' they can, than men. |

Men and women are totally different animals.
A woman can have platonic friendships, but I wouldn't trust a bloke if there's a fanny about.
The only female friends I have that I wouldn't fuck are the ugly ones.

Yes the other halves that have the problem with thinking that thee is more to the friendship. Lost a good friend because of this. Mind she was having an affair I was supporting him as usual, and then lost other friends because of it as they did not know she had an affair. All they saw was me being supportive and letting him stay here whilst sorting themselves out. He went back for the kids .....
So yes it has its draw backs but we still stay in touch without her knowing as she is fret full her other friends will find out what a total bitch she is |
