Anybody know how/why all this started? Do people do it because over people do? Or is there something that has prompted it?

Does it have any legal standing really? Surely t&cs on fab have more.

I don't know was just curious to know peoples thoughts.

Also I like the novelty ones people sometimes have.

think i read on here a while back that it started from another site called adult friendfinder?,just seemed to get carried over on to here as well, whether it carries any legal weight or not people use it on profiles.

derby

It carries no legal weight and is ridiculous. Every page that is viewed in an internet browser saves a copy of the pics on the computer it is being viewed on.

It's an urban myth that to be honest just wastes bandwidth by increasing page load times.

Now its the guys from Melbourne university you need to watch out for - or is it the little green men, I can't remember since the last probing.

I agree that those legal threats are completely useless.

But then those disclaimers that are found at the bottom of every email ever sent from a corporate email account (i.e. 'If you receive this message in error....') are equally useless and yet still very prevalent.

It says clearly on the FAQ that these types of disclaimers carry no legal weight whatsoever and are a drain on the site's resources. It goes further to ask specifically that users do NOT put these notices on their profiles.
